Okay I'll admit I've been bitten a couple of times over the years by this. Mainly because yeah, I was in a hurry. I tend to buy mostly Special editions, directors cuts, and anime, so I sometimes forget that theres such a thing as fullscreen thanks to all the stupid people out there.

It would be nice if more studios went the Spiderman route and simply did totally seperate artwork.

blah, different artwork sucks. Look at AVP coming soon. FS has an Alien in the front and the WS has a Predator. I know plenty of people who are FS fans who like aliens more. Different covers just leads to the "criterion" level of collecting where every sligth different is something to hunt, buy and collect. No thank you. Just give me the sticker on the package and I'll be glad. the less it destroys the cover art, the better.

So? Just because the collector geeks have to buy two copoes doesn't mean the rest of us do.

You see how some people favor one cover over the other in normal situations (look at heat SE for example) Having two covers will just add more fuel to the fire.

I don't understand how a person can be too busy to look at what they are buying (tip: In England we have queues at checkouts - good time to check), but have plenty of time to complain about it on the internet.

I wonder if some of us just suffer from Agoraphobia. In which case shop over the internet or get someone else to do your shopping.

It's certainly close. Not only is "Widescreen" mentioned on the front, it's also mentioned on the spine and the back. Not that hard to figure out which is which.

What I don't get is how putting a label on the package is going to help someone who forgot to check the label on the package.

Hey, if the vegetable fits....

Seriously, if you were in such "an exhausted state" how on earth did you manage to make it home safely?! Hopefully you took mass transit and didn't attempt to drive yourself in such an incredible state of exhaustion.

How did you manage to muster up the energy to make it to the store in the first place. Being so exhausted, it is amazing that you remembered where to buy DVDs.

< /sarcasm >

It's one thing to say that you were rushed and didn't look when you bought it... it is quite another thing to BLAME the companies for that mistake. That is why people rag on those making the mistake. For pushing the blame onto others.

So did I miss something when I read the rules before joining this place?

I thought that insults were off limits to all. I didn't see anything that said that people with the fancy littlle "DVD talk Gold Edition" and such tags were allowed to insult others.

Just where are the forum moderators?

What "insults" are you talking about? Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they are insulting you. Get some thicker skin.

Wait a minute,... you read the rules? What's with these newbies?

Mopower is right. If you can't take people disagreeing with you, you'd better quickly get the hell out of this place.

When I read a "warning" about a dvd cover I usually think that something is wrong with it or may cause problems. Like if some artist at dreamworks just went crazy and the wrong cover art was on the dvd... say like this.

So when I read about the text of widescreen/fullscreen. it's a little bit of a let down.

But if a thread issues a warning, it makes it sound like it is really important, when really it should be something every consumer should learn or look at before spending their money on.
I like these warning threads, as it's another way to be an informed consumer. I see the thread, then I know to double check when I pick it up. 99% of the time I look, but sometimes I'm in a rush on my lunch break or whatever, and just don't think to check closely.

People that don't these like these threads should just stay the hell out of them.

Negative. Believe it or not, there are some of us out there who don't live life with our heads shoved up our asses.

I wholeheartedly agree. I'm about to make a lunch "DVD run" that will take 40 minutes in the car. If I'm going to eat anything today, I don't have too much time to spend in Best Buy!

Why in the world would you waste 40 minutes traveling on your lunch break to get a dvd at Best Buy in the first place? Why not just order it online?

Trouble...

I've had many DVDs arrive loose in their cases and scratched. The time and money involved when I return these discs to the online retailer is a huge incentive to buy my movies at B&M stores. Back in the day of DVDExpress I did quite a bit of online buying. Those days are gone.
