All indications suggest that it's at least another year... also, there is another thread about this here: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...ight=kill+bill

The Barebones release? WTF? Seriously folks. The next versions will more then likely just be the re-edit version of the two films. You may not get the same two films you got now. Since no one has seen it, I would suggest buying the one out right now as it does have some decent stuff on the disc for the price.
Search will find that most likely next summer will be a theater release. Most likely by christmas next year.
It's not right around the corner.

If you really like the films, why wait for a future release that isn't even close to being announced yet? (and a DVD release will probably be at least a year from now). I paid less than $15 each for the current DVDs months ago and have watched them constantly since then (definitely got my money's worth
).

Cultshock is right, i've watched my Japanese DVD at least 20 times since I got it all those months ago. Besides, there are no guarantees on what we'll see in a boxset, what changes will be made, et cetera. This is especially the case due to something I heard about there being no overlap between the releases, much like what was done with the LOTR films... so, I figure the cuts of the film will be completely different from those already released.

Yup, you really don't know what you are actually waiting for or if you will actually like what you are waiting for. Pick up the ones out right now. they are cheap enough.

My main question about Kill Bill is are there different cuts for this movie on releases over seas? Primarily, the black and white sequence in the first movie is back in color for an overseas DVD release?

Yes, both Part 1 & 2 have extended cuts on the Japanese DVD's. Part 2 only has about a minute added to the Estaban scene, while the Part 1 is almost a whole different experience with its additions.

Japanese cut doesn't have the crazy 88 fight scene in black and white. It also contains a few more moves, a few more slashes and a lot more gore that make the fight seem more connected and fluant.

Heresy! I think the Japanese cut is far superior.

There are also additional shots of coffee cups from above, and a more graphic scene of O-Ren's revenge.
