Originally posted by littlefuzzy I do miss some Warner Bros titles, but with their move to keep cases, there are plenty of Warner Bros films coming out that I will be able to get, and I'll keep hoping they will re-release others, especially if they go with some nice 2-disc editions. For some reason, I don't mind the Digi-packs, I think they actually look nicer on the shelf than keep cases, and there isn't a problem with them catching on each other (like snappers.) It's just that the case is one factor to help me narrow down the vast selection of titles that I want. This is exactly the way I feel about it. I got my first DVD player just one year ago ($25 on a BF sale) and have the luxury of having a big Wishlist. Doubtless it is easier for someone like myself, who can comfortably limit Warner titles to Digipacks — and still not exhaust all the other titles on my Wishlist. But oh baby, when Warner gets religion and starts issuing them in plastic, I'll be thrilled! http://www.intergate.com/~tobeornot2...MA/oYUPNOD.gif http://www.intergate.com/~tobeornot2...APPYSQUINT.gif I eagerly look forward to it, since I have about 50 Warner titles, including:

I don't really care. If I have snappers of movies that are released in keep cases, I don't care. But as far as avoiding movies that come out in snappers NOW, I dunno, I hardly ever have to buy snappers anymore because they're not really a widely used case anymore. The last DVD I bought in a snapper was Scooby Doo 2, and hell, it was a while before that, that I had to buy a snapper. So, no biggy. If a movie I really want comes out in a snapper, I'm not going to hold out. Sure the packaging stinks but it doesn't ruin the movie for me.

I think they're fine. Not quite as attractive as keepcases perhaps. But they hub mechanisms are less lethal to discs than some keepcases have, and most certainly better than the disc-eating "digistaks" which shatter the disc hubs as they're packed in the factories!
The biggest bind about snapper cases is that, if you have a lot on the shelf fairly tightly packed, taking one out usually means three or four others pull out with it as the plastic edges catch each other. |

I buy DVD's for the movies. With or without inserts, with or without snappers, with or without features. The only thing that will influence my decision in purchasing a movie which I like is whether the transfer or audio is acceptable or not.
End of story. |
Choosing to not buy a DVD because of the style of case is about as rational an idea as refusing to see a movie at a theater because you don't like the color of the carpet in the lobby.

aam1,
I think he's saying, "That's so fucked". |
i hated them because they had a 'no-class' look about them.
worse-you pull one out to view- and the plastic edges catch and pull out 3 other cases (assuming you have several of them in a row) when the kids get hold of them, they pretty soon get wrecked-torn, kool aid, peanut butter fingerprints etc. With a keep case when it starts to look bad, you pull out the insert and buy a new case-looks good as new |
What a strange thread resurrection more than three years later.

I wish HD DVD would have adopted snappers as their standard. They could have referred to them as "Red Snappers." Who knows, Warner may have not gone Blu?
