On the International Talk someone mentioned that the Shall We Dance? DVD is cut. Anyone know what's going on with this disc? I couldn't find any details in a search. Thanks.

AFAIK its been out for a long time (the original film that is!) in HK : try finding that disc at places like dvdasian.com / hkflix.com / yesasia.com etc...

But the R3 is non-anamorphic with imbedded subtitles? I try to wait for something better since I've double dipped too many times already.

I thought it was awfully expensive for a barebones catalog release. If only they were adding $10 worth of special features...

The HK DVD is non-anamorphic and has NO English subtitles. I would definitely avoid this release.

Furthermore, you can buy the Japanese release of Shall We Dance at yesasia.com from April this year, but it's pricey at $44.73. Still, I would think the quality of the Japanese release will be superior to other areas.

Ok, the region 1 version is anamorphic and has Dolby surround, but has one featurette that deals with the REMAKE. Anyone know if any other versions will be better?

looking at IMDb, it seems like it was cut before it's theatrical release.. it was 136 minutes in Japan, but everywhere else it was 118 minutes.. so the DVD release ought to be the "western cut" of the film that was shown in theaters, and not something that was cut for the DVD release.
