Gold and Silver DVD bottom...What's the difference?
Is there any difference between the colors of DVDs. I bought a used copy of Northfork at Blockbuster the other day and it was scratched all to hell...as is most any Blockbuster used DVDs. Anyways, I just bought a brand new copy of Northfork and plan on returning the Blockbuster copy. The Blockbuster copy has a gold glow on the bottom and the new Fry's copy has a silver bottom like most CDs.
Also, the artwork and writing on the Fry's version doesn't seem to be as sharp as the Blockbuster. It just seems slightly out of focus. Not really out of focus just not as sharp as the other.
Anyways, is the gold better then the silver?? Why is there two versions?

Sorry if this has been covered before.

The colors correspond to whether it is single or dual layered.

Quickest way to tell if it's dual layer: check the inner ring of the playback side (where the pressing information is in readable form). If there's only one ring of numbers, it's single layer. If you can see two rings (one of them backwards), it's dual layer.
