I don't know if it's a good blind buy. If your a fan of say...The Matrix or 5th Element, then this flick should work for ya.

Since you don't have it, might has well go for the 2-Disc.

I went through both discs last night, and if you already have the 1 disc version, stick with it. The new packaging is nice, but the poster is tiny, and the 2nd disc is all fluff (previews/trailers for other titles, etc) with the exception of two 30 minute dumbed down production featurettes that are copyrighted 95/96 (reused from another source). I feel that the DTS track is a waste, since there wasn't that much sound action going on... it's not like they needed all that much room for it though, since the movie is only 82 minutes long.

Did anyone else feel that watching it subtitled wasn't much better than dubbed? the dialog is so long and "flat", the english dub seemed great to me. I noticed that the subtitling and the dub differed in a few spots... example was at the stairtops, the subtitles say something like "so you finally ran out of ammo" and the dubs say "about f'ing time it ran out".

My 2c.

Has anyone seen any pics of the packing ? Would like to see what it looks like.
Have they really done a remaster? I sure doesn't look like it!

Here you go, Kant. These are all clickable for larger pics.

This is the clear plastic slipcover

This is the inside, opened up

This is the backside, opened up

This is 1 side of the 2-sided poster. The other side is a dupe of the cover.

Ugh, the packaging is annoying. Looks slick, but difficult to pull out and worse to get back in. Bubbles in the plastic cover on mine, and all 4 copies i saw at Target. Darn it

I don't know what the subtitles on this disc are like, but the dub being the same as the subtitles is a rarity on the single disc edition, as it is in most movies, since dub dialog is changed for various reasons.

Anyways, I dislike the dub a lot, because I can't stand how certain scenes are played. The characters act very differently, and I don't think the voice actors used are very talented. I don't know exactly what you mean in your analysis though... are yo saying you found the Japanese actors too flat? the English ones? or both are, so you didn't mind the dub?

In picture 2, the hub that holds the 2nd DVD in place kinda looks like a nipple placed there.

...just sayin'.

Just a question for anyone who got this at Best Buy: Is there one of those black security tags underneath the clear plastic that holds the discs?

Did anyone get a copy with one of the black security tags? I just want to know where it's located to help decide where I should purchase it.

The copy I got at Target didn't have any black security tags.

Target doesn't use the black tabs, but thanks for responding.

Anyone have trouble finding this in the B&Ms? CC, BB, WM and Target had none. Finally, found only one copy @ Frys.
