Shaun Of The Dead ---> Dec. 21st!

Region 1 finally gets a release of the British classic!....details to follow......

freudguy 10-18-04 08:10 AM

It would be hard to beat all of the extras on the R2 disc. The thing is packed. I wonder if they will import all of those to the R1 release.

speedy1961 10-18-04 09:05 AM

Very funny movie!

Now I'll have to decide between the Region 1 / Region 2 releases.

rexinnih 10-18-04 09:11 AM

Haven't been able to catch this one in the theaters but looks like a pretty good blind buy.

If you like British comedy and zombie movies, I'd say so.

Great movie. Will definitely be picking this up. Hope it gets a good R1 treatment, given that I'm not region free (or at least I'm not with my good DVD player/TV -- only with the crappy ones in the bedroom).

asianxcore 10-18-04 09:52 AM

good news!

hopefully all the extras are ported over and maybe put on a 2nd disc. might have to get the R2 disc soon.

BasiaMille 10-18-04 11:07 AM

Why I'm waiting

From what Edgar Wright (the film's director) said at Comic-Con this year in San Diego, his goal is to port over everything from the R2 disc and add some new stuff for R1. It;s the reason I haven't gotten the R2 yet. (Not that I'm holding my breath for a Spaced R1 set).

I also made sure to ask Wright if the version we saw at Comic-Con (and that was released in theaters) was the "longest possible director's cut" of the film, and he said it was, so no multi-dipping, a la the film's antecedent, Dawn of the Dead.

CDE,

CS

Hmmm... Basia says good things...

I already have the r2, but hey, like it'll be hard to sell!

True. I've had the R2 for at least a month now ad I'm still not through all the extras!

Heartagram 10-18-04 11:13 AM

heres the article at dvdanswers.

http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?...5093&n=1&burl=

Says there will be all the same stuff as R2 and possibly some new stuff as well.

Great Movie by the way, any zombie lover can appreciate this.

tofu 10-18-04 11:18 AM

Awesome. I was worried that it wasn't going to be as jam packed as the R2 version.

fnordboy 10-18-04 11:19 AM

If there are any new things I will have no problem double dipping on this. Such a fantastic movie.

I hope that they put the extras on another disc since the R2 is overflowing with extras.

Rammsteinfan 10-18-04 11:22 AM

Cant wait to pick it up, loved it!

Now if we could only get Undead from down under to get a release here. I want to see it on the big screen, its another good zombie type flick.

punkmonkey 10-18-04 11:22 AM

This is great news. I almost bought the R2, but I'm glad I held off.

mikewendt 10-18-04 11:26 AM

I really hope they add the features from the R2 disc.

4 COMMENTARIES! Shit!!!

Awesome, I was about to order from England, but now I'll wait. That's a pretty fast release.

The theatrical release of 'Dawn of the Dead' was Romero's director's cut.

Personally, I like the prospect of an Italian horror filmmaker re-cutting 'Shaun' to make it more of a straight horror movie... sounds intriguing.

TylerDurden_73 10-18-04 11:52 AM

This is a blind buy for me. Can't wait to see it...

matome 10-18-04 12:08 PM

Nice quick release!

mikeporter 10-18-04 03:18 PM

I saw Shaun in the theater and thought it was great. If you are a fan of The Office (british tv show) you will notice some familiar faces. I'm glad its going to have most of/or all of the same extras as the R2 disc. Can't wait.

bboisvert 10-18-04 03:21 PM

I can virtually guarantee that all of the R2 supplements will be carried over. Why? Because, LAST WEEK, I finally broke down and bought the R2 edition. I figured "there's no way in hell they'll put all of this on the R1 edition".

Those without region-free machines can thank me now. ;)

Or, uh, 'Spaced'.

Jackskeleton 10-18-04 03:31 PM

Well that's good news about the R1 getting all the R2 extras and potentially more. I'm not sad that I picked up the R2. seeing it at home over and over again has been a blast.

Though I really doubt SPACED will come out in R1.
