No Trailers on Garden State DVD! ARGGG!!

Here is what you will find on the DVD:

Anamorphic widescreen transfer
English Dolby Digital 5.1 track
Audio commentary with Zach Braff and Natalie Portman
Second commentary with Zach Braff along with Director of Photography Lawrence Sher, Editor Myron Kerstein and Production Designer Judy Becker
Sixteen deleted scenes with optional director commentary.
Garden State featurettes
Film Outtakes and Soundtrack promo spot

What is missing? The Trailers!! Not even the teaser one. Anyone else a fan of the trailer to this movie?
We (zach-braff.com) talked to FOX about the trailers and were told "As for the DVD, we could not get the trailer on the DVD and fit everything else that both Zach and our DVD group wanted on the disc. "
Come on! They cant be that big! Why not take off the Soundtrack Promo Spot and give us the trailers! Hell the movie itself can be the soundtrack promo spot!
Maybe us fans should beg Zach on his blog to add them!
I really wanted to see that teaser on my big screen and not just at my computer.

(SORRY! I thought this was a REPLY to the already GS topic, not a new post! Sorry, as the English say, My Bad)

Oh well. Fox sucks. Another reason why the big studios suck ass and Criterion still dominates.

Hey! No personal attacks there mister!

I gotta defend fox on this one simply cause.... well cause I can!

The dvd is packed as it is. Look at that You got 2 commentary tracks, sixteen deleted scenes with commentary and a featurette and 5.1 track. What else can you ask for?

I mean seriously, I liked the trailers for it myself, but there is no way that I can complain about this packaging. The trailers are on quicktime. I understand you may want to see them on the big screen, but if there is no room, then there is no room. As for the Promo spot for the soundtrack. i doubt, I really really doubt that the promo spot will be as long or as big as a teaser or a trailer.

I'm happy... no, I'm beyond happy at the package here.

This unfortunately seems to be the norm these days. Trailers are just about the last priority on the studios' list when it comes to extras. At least Fox still includes them occasionally. Other studios have abandoned them altogether.

I couldn't care less. Trailers are the special feature i care the least about, outside of "interactive menus"

I don't get this Criterion thing...when they still put out non-anamorphic titles. The only titles I'd consider getting on Criterion are non-anamorphic!

Seriously, who releases 1.33 and 1.66 films non-anamorphically these days?!

Actually, trailers are a very big deal to me. It's an extra that should be included on every DVD. It takes little to no effort on the studios' part, particularly with new titles.

Well, no...actually the titles I was referring to were Robocop and Armageddon. But actually I see Robocop was 1.66, so I conceed your point there, but why would Criterion not do an anamorphic transfer of Armageddon?

They don't put out non-anamorphic titles. At least not since 1999.

When it's all said and done, I don't really mind when trailers aren't included, but I wish they would be included for all films. To me, trailers are especially cool when it's a film I've never even seen before, and even more cool in terms of being able to go back to them one day years down the road.

Is there a reason, other then being lazy or whatever, why they would leave off the trailers? Seems to me they are very simple to get ahold of and to add.

This movie had a really cool trailer. I highly doubt there isn't room. If the past is any indication, those "featurettes" are 50% scenes from the movie anyways.

Just messin around . My personal pet peeve is that Andrei Rublev isn't anamorphic. It keeps stemming me off from buying it, but like Popcorn said, they do all ana nowadays.

In the early days of DVD, many companies didn't adopt the anamorphic format thinking that it wouldn't catch on. Armageddon was one of the early releases that was non-anamorphic. Although I am a little surprised that Criterion has announced a re-release of Armageddon like they did with Charade.

i LOVE trailers and i can't understand why studios aren't filling up dvds that have room left with LOTS of anamorphic WS trailers in 5.1 (important!) sound - nothing better than watching a lound and exciting trailer for a movie you are about to watch on your HT setup...
i even collect all the WS 5.1 trailers i can find to burn on my own trailer dvd. too bad there is no place on the net where you can download those...
quicktime trailers suck!!

(i still haven't forgiven WB for not including the trailers in top quality on the matrix discs...)

But that's the problem... the dvd doesn't have any room left to spare.

an average trailer uses between 50 to 100 megabytes... 95% of the time that would easily fit on the dvd.

i don't own garden state, so i don't know if there would have been room on it. i plan on renting it though
