Either way, I'll be all over this disc. I'll finally be able to add the original film to my mini-series versions.

There's a comment on DVDAnswers saying that the TV cut is only in 4:3. Is that true?

I assume the extended cut would be in 4:3, since it was intended for TV when it was created.... this assumes the extended cut is actually the made-for-TV Alan Smithee cut.

One of the problems with the aspect ratio of the TV cut, is that some scenes were made by flipping footage or, using one side of the scope image for one scene, then another for a different scene. Restored to their native 2.35, these scenes might not make as much sense. So, a whole new cut would be required for a fullscreen release. And even if Lynch won't do it, surely they could do a reconstruction like Alien3?

Most likely this disc will be made without the participation of David Lynch.
How does everybody feel about that? |
There's another thread devoted to the R1 SE:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=408018 In it, I addressed the aspect ratio question that has also been asked here. |
Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone heard anything about an SE of CHILDREN OF DUNE?
