Universal Monsters Legacy Set 2 ???
Is Amazon selling this second wave as individual units only or is there a boxed set like the first wave with the busts? I can only find the individual releases there. Can anyone tell me what I should use for a search to find the boxed set (assuming it will exist)?
|
I think they are only single sets.
|
No Busts? :(
|
Nope, apparantly they aren't doing a box or busts this time.
|
hmmm....i could've sworn i read or seen somewhere a picture of a second box set with busts. unless they cancelled it?
|
Was there ever a clear story on why the first set of busts disappeared from shelves (I believe due to recall, not selling out)? I missed out on them waiting for a better price.
|
So far I have not seen any site that offered or suggested that a box set for this second wave was being offered.

I just ordered the individuals today. I don't think there is any chance of another box set. Guess the first one didn't sell well?

But that boxed set was just a limited edition release that Universal put out to whore their wretched "Van Helsing" pile of shit. If Universal was smart -- which they aren't -- they would've held off on the releases of their old monster DVDs until this month, so the stores could promote them for Halloween, and probably pick up more sales of the box with the busts as Christmas gifts providing they were prescient enough to keep available through December. But instead they release them to coincide with "Van Helsing," which has absolutely nothing to do with the old Lugosi, Cheney, and Karloff movies except for the names of the monsters. Like the kids who're lining up to see that "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" by way of "The Matrix" rip-off would give a shit about seventy year-old black and white movies. |

Any word on any more Universal classic horror movie collections?
or are these in any collections already? The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1923 The Phantom of the Opera 1925 The Old Dark House 1932 Murders in the Rue Morgue 1932 Island of Lost Souls 1933 The Black Cat 1934 The Raven 1935 Dracula's Daughter 1936 The Invisible Ray 1936 Tower of London 1939 Black Friday 1940 Horror Island 1941 Man Made Monster 1941 The Mad Doctor of Market Street 1942 Night Monster 1942 Calling Dr. Death 1943 Captive Wild Woman 1943 The Mad Ghoul 1943 Phantom of the Opera 1943 The Climax 1944 Dead Man's Eyes 1944 Jungle Woman 1944 Weird Woman 1944 The Frozen Ghost 1945 The Jungle Captive 1945 Pillow of Death 1945 Strange Confession 1945 The Brute Man 1946 House of Horrors 1946 The Black Castle 1952 Curse of the Undead 1959 or a collection of Just abbot and costello meeting the monsters? (I know A&C sets have been released but i 'm talking about just the monsters Bud Abbott Lou Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff (1949) Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951) Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1953) Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955) |
Dracula's Daughter is included in the Dracula set.
I don't think the Phantom needs another release. The two-discer released last year is good enough, IMO. The Hunchback could probably stand to get a better release. |
Old Dark House already has a pretty nice release as well.
|
1925 & 1943 Phantom of the Opera have been released
Abbott & Costello Meet the Mummy, meet Frankenstein & meet the Invisible Man have all been released. Island of Lost Souls has been released |
The 1943 version of Phantom needs another release, though, since the first is OOP.
|
thanks for the info...
I couldn't find old dark house or isle of lost souls listed anywhere...well amazon has it as Jan 2010 release... I saw A&C meet the Mummy Single disk @ DDD and Amazon for ~$19, Best of V3 has A&C meet Frankenstein, The Killer Boris Karloff, and the Invisible Man... It seems the single copy of meet frankenstein is OOP, and no Jekyl and Hyde. I think it's be nice to have a companion set of the "monster" comedies. The A&C movies were Universal weren't they? |
