Simpsons Season 5 Announced

Looks like we'll be getting two seasons this year, at least. Hopefully they'll start pumping out faster now.

Details Here!

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it looks like they are dropping the commentaries on every episode thing.

Sweet! That season was probably about the start of the show's peak (seasons 5-8, IMO).

Damn, only like 8 or so commentaries according to that. I love the commentaries on all my season sets. It's nice to get it earlier, but i wouldn't have mind waiting for the commentaries.

That kind of stinks. I loved listening to them all. Although at times, they almost stretched themselves too thin. So...hell, 2 sets in one year, I can sacrifice a few commentaries for that!

Wherer did you get 2 seasons from? That article only talks about Season 5 on Dec. 21.

Season four was released earlier this year. So, that makes two seasons this year.

The fourth season was released in June. Usually we only get one simpsons set every 10 or 11 months so this is good!

I think he was referring to the fact that we got Season 4 back in June, hence two (2) this year.

Edit: damn beaten

Great news... While I love the commentaries on all of the episodes so far, I thought it was only a matter of time before they abandon doing them for every single episode. It is still nice to see that they are recording commentaries for some of the episodes, and good ones at that.

Dissapointed on the commentaries...but it'll make a good DVD set for the holiday break.

So....wonder what the box color will be? I'll say Green.

I'm sure eventually each season will be released on the next format, hopefully they'll go back and include all the remaining commentaries then.

Question: does this season include the episode where Bart gives the Flanders kids' pixie sticks?

I think there'll be more commentaries than those. All the special-features information DVD Answers has is for the first six episodes of the season. Ergo, I conclude that they were sent the info for the first disc, but not for the other three. (Why would they have commentaries on the first six episodes in a row and none on the other 16?) I am sure there will be commentaries on the other episodes.

I'd rather wait another 6 months for it and have gotten commentaries on all the episodes myself....

Season 4 is quite possibly the greatest season of any tv show in history.

I wouldn't. With 15+ seasons one a year is way too damn slow. We need at least three a year. Pick up the pace. At the current rate it would be 15 years to get them and DVD probably will be old news by then.

Put me down for more sets and less commentaries - they've run out of things to say - and they even say so in the old commentaries.

no commentaries = no sale.

I got them all on video tape and have seen them over and over and over again.

The only reason why I'd want them is for the commentaries. The commentaries give background on a bunch of the inside jokes and puts the episodes in perspective in regards to what was going on in the world at the time.

Whoa.... I was not expecting to see this. Great news IMO. One a year just wasn't cutting it at all. Now, if we could get this down to one every four months.

i agree with some of the other posters, without commentaries i will pass on this set. the commentaries add alot of value since ive already seen the episodes 10 times each. its not like the animation is so top notch you need DVD quality. hopefully there are more commentaries than the info states.
