Halloween Viewing
It's officially October, so I figure a lot of you have some special Halloween viewing set ahead of you. I'm looking at this being a key point in knocking off some of my unviewed horror titles. So what's everyone got set up?
I'm looking to watch: - Dracula Monster Legacy - Frankstein Monster Legacy - Wolf Man Monster Legacy - Invisible Man Monster Legacy - Creature From the Black Lagoon Monster Legacy - Mummy Monster Legacy - Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde WB Double Feature - Phantom of the Opera (Chaney) - King German Horror Box Set I think that's about it; as you can tell, I'm not big on the current horror and prefer the horror that's not really all that scary today, but still classics that told a good story. I'm figuring to spread these titles out to one or two a day. I'll watch a few non-horror titles here and there this month, but I'll be focusing on going through the above list for the most part. |
I'm probably just gonna try and watch all the Horror in my collection this month...I have somewhere around 60 Horror DVD's...wish me luck!

The entire series of Halloween films are required viewing for me this time of year. Everybody seems to have mentioned Halloween I & II and left out the rest.
While I agree those two films are the best of the series, Halloween III still remains my favorite. I know it's cheesy and has nothing to do with the others, but it has some kind of hold on me for reasons I'm not really sure of. I think it's because HBO used to play this all the time, and it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid (the scene where the boy gets "zapped" or whatever and the snakes crawl out of his pumpkin mask really gave me nightmares). I guess it's a nostalgia thing. In any case, I think #3 gets much less respect than it deserves. Halloween 4 is also pretty good, and was a nice kickstart for the stalled franchise - which unfortunately has gone downhill ever since, with H20 being the high point (IMO) of the subsequent sequels. #4 is pretty well made and has that "leaves are falling, weather is getting cool" kind of atmosphere that makes for nice viewing for this time of year. Other than that, this is the month that I dust off all my horror dvd's and give them a fresh viewing, and open and view all the new ones that I haven't got around to yet. Starting with Zombie flicks, then moving on to slashers and so on, with the exception of the Christmas and other Holiday-themed horror flicks (New Year's Evil, My Bloody Valentine, Mother's Day, Uncle Sam, etc.) which remain in reserve until their time of year rolls around. Speaking of which, how come almost every holiday has it's own horror film(s) except Thanksgiving. Except for "Blood Freak" with it's killer Turkey (!), I can't come up with anything. Are there any that I'm missing? Roy |
well i think halloween 1 and 2 are essential i think 3 sucked and the rest are so-so there watchable.

I'm alway's a big horror fan, watch them all the time anyway. But Halloween is extra special. Some of my favorites for Halloween are, Pumpkinhead, The Omen, Sleepy Hollow, The Howling, Dracula, Ginger Snaps, Underworld, etc. And I espically can't forget a few great episodes of The Munsters which are fantastic. " I'm gonna marinate your gizzards in sheep dip!" Moose Mallory's father to Herman when he accidentaly steals his son's basketball scholarship at college. Great stuff!
|
And sorry I forgot to add, anything with Vincent Price in it. I can't forget one of the masters.

I kicked off Halloween month by watching Ju-On: The Grudge. But over the course of the month, I'll be watching much of my horror selections, but I always have to watch The Shining on Halloween. Best horror film ever, IMO.
