Paramount & Universal TV-On-DVD Special Features
I am just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the Seasonal Television Set from Paramount & Universal feature very little in the way of special features (except of course American Dreams, I love Lucy & Star Trek)? I mean look at the last few paramount titles: Happy Days, Laverne & Shirly, Mork & Mindy, 7th Heaven, & Keen Eddie... not a special feature between them. Universal is alittle better at getting something on the disc: Norhtern Expsosure (deleted scenes), Law and Order (interviews), & Silders ("Pilot" Commentary).
If you compare these features to 20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers their is no compatition. Fox and Warner try to atleast put a few commentaries, deleted scenes, and featurettes into their sets, while paramount puts nothing, and universal will through in some interviews or deleted footage...
I guess it just Kind of bugs me, wondering if if bug anyone else....

Nope it doesn't bother me one bit. The thing that I find is that people go ga-ga over commentaries with little thought about WHEN those commentaries were made. Personally, I don't want the cast of some show doing a commentary 30 years after they worked on it.
If there were supplemental material on a show available that was created at or around the time that the show was originally aired, then I can see the value in that. But I have no interest in extras-for-the-sake-of-extras.
Extras for TV shows should be sold as separate products IMO. This helps get the shows themselves out to market quicker and doesn't inflate the price of the sets for those of us who are interested in the show itself.

If it can keep the cost of the set down and help get releases out faster, then I say screw the bonus features. The only ones I would really be interested in seeing are perhaps specials made regarding the TV show while the show was running. Other than that, it's no big deal if the skip on bonus features.
One show that I think should consider skimping on bonus features is the Simpsons. The annual release of those sets is really annoying, and they should be coming out faster.
