If only there were a separate sub-forum for Star Wars DVD-related threads...

A New Hope sounds like shit on this release. There is no way to get around it. From the weak soundtrack mix to the inconsistent audio on numerous lines throughout, the only thing more depressing than hearing these "mistakes" on what is supposed to be the definitive release is hearing this bullshit from the Lucasfilm camp that this shitty audio was intended all along. Watching the end of the Death Star trench run tonight, a scene which used to build to a climax of such palpable tension, I only hope that the powers that be realize this grave mishap and issue a recall soon. Star Wars deserves better than this.

Yeah, the voices are very inconsistant on ANH. Haven't seen the others yet, but it's pretty lame for Star Wars.

Recall? Doubt it. But they should admit it's not up to par.

Seeing that a new version of DVDs (possibly HD-DVDs) will be released in 2007, it's doubtful Lucas is going to spend the money on correcting the current release. I mean, 2007 is only a little over two years from now, and by the time he stops working on the DVD version of Revenge of the Sith, it will be time to concentrate on the 30th anniversary of A New Hope - which is when it will probably be restored (and new scenes added!) once again.

"Just ordered the original versions on dvd from E-bay, and have already stated I will not be getting this new set. Only an official release of the versions I fell in love with in '77, '80, and '83 will somewhat reverse the damage Lucas has subsequently done to his once mighty franchise." by Rivero in buying Poll post

Rivero, I thought you were not going to get this set. Oh let me guess, you either borrowed, rented, watched at a friends, or received this gift as a set. That must be it for sure, you had to find a way around something you said in the past so that you could once again rip on what Lucas has done to the trilogy. While
I agree that things are not great as far as audio on A New Hope, they are far from sounding like SHIT as you state. And no I do not have a cheap HTIB setup. Just my 2 cents everyone.
