Yeah, it look like a pretty slick set. The price is pretty good too. The only thing I don't like is that this looks like just like the kind of gimmicky packaging that would really annoy me after a while.

You said it. Though I still appreciate how badass it would look sitting on the shelf. It's somewhat like the Evil Dead Book of the Dead edition, I saw it and thought, man...that looks awesome and now it's somewhat of a pain as it doesn't file away so easily but at the same time, from an artistic standpoint, it's still appreciated.

How many Hellraiser movies were there? I thought there was at least a fourth one...and that a new one was coming out soon. Why isnt' the fourth one in this set?

I'm sure it wasn't great but if your'e doing a boxset...what not included it? at least it looks like it would fit inside the box still...maybe in like a CD case or something.

There are seven Hellraiser films to date if memory serves me correctly, and per any horror franchise, they've been progressively worse,...and worse,...

Hellraiser
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
Hellraiser: Bloodline
Hellraiser: Inferno
Hellraiser: Hellseeker
Hellraiser: Deader
Hellraiser: Hellworld

I don't think Deader and Hellworld have been released yet; all of the movies after "Bloodline" were released direct-to-video.

The first two movies were released to DVD through Anchor Bay, Paramount owns the third one (and hasn't released it in R1 yet), and Disney/Dimension picked up the franchise from the fourth one on.

Since these are split across so many different studios, I wouldn't expect a boxed set any time soon in R1.

Josh-da-man is right. I spoke with Michael Felsher of Anchor Bay at the recent Horrorfind Convention and he said that the rights for Hellraiser 3 are completely tied up in the U.S. He said it was a similar situation with the Halloween and Phantasm series. In particular the Phantasm series, in the vein of the R2 Hellraiser box, he would like to put together a boxset housed in the orb from the film. Anchor Bay even had to turn down Don Coscarelli, director of the Phantasm films, when he presented them with uncut footage of part 2 to do a SE because of rights issues. Phantasm 1 and 4 are owned by MGM (have R1 DVD releases), 2 and 3 are owned by Universal (no planned R1 release).

Frickin' Universal. Even if they ever do release those movies they surely won't use that extra footage. It'll probably get the same basic treatment that Halloween II got... Why don't they just take the licensing money and let Anchor Bay handle it?

Hmm, how interesting that the bonus disc includes the unmatted version of Hellraiser III. I don't think I've ever seen a DVD released that is fullscreen but it's the unmatted version, thus you see more.

The bonus disc doesn't sound too interesting...

"Salome" and "The Forbidden" have been previously released by Redemption in R1. They're short, silent, black and white films made by Barker, Atkins, and Bradley. Sort of student films... and let's just say that they show a side of Barker I wasn't expecting to see.

What's the big deal about the unmatted cinema version of Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth that would warrant its inclusion as a supplement?

another poster mentioned something about the rights for Hellraiser 3 being really tied up in the US.
