Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind DVD question,...

What are the chances of this film seeing a special edition either within the states or throughout other regions anytime soon? If anyone has any information on this they'd be willing to share it would be greatly appreciated.

Doubtful IMO. The movie was fairly succesfull, as it made it's budget back, but not big enough to warrent the money to make another release of it. Then again, if Focus does an SE of Lost In Translation, then they may do an SE of this film.

I can't see it to be honest. Watched it last night, and enjoyed it. Good sound, good picture, and a few decent extras. The main thing is, GREAT MOVIE!

Consider my petition filed.

P.S. This is all basically stems from my total contempt for the upcoming DVD's artwork, Focus may support quality films but their artwork/packaging leaves a great deal to be desired though I'm one in few who probably cares. Aside from the fact that this film would benefit from more special features than what's featured on the disc as well.

But it isn't just Focus doing the whole crappy 'BUY THIS DVD cause this big actor is in it' cover art promotion.

Main beef with them: Not putting Scarlett Johnasson on the cover of LIT.

Amen. I'd seriously love nothing more than a Crit version of Eternal though I know it will never happen---never hurts to wish though

Wait, you want them to get rid of the existing commentary track and other extras and replace them with extras from My Life as a Dog?

Wait, isn't the cover art for the DVD the theatrical poster? What's wrong with that?

My only real complaint with the movie is that the excellent "Mr. Blue Sky" trailer isn't included. But it's on Lost in Translation, so I can survive.

And it still looks better than the one they came up with after spending who knows how much time and money.

Oh come on, the final version ain't that bad. Though that quote does make me wonder: "A sexy, seriously funny COMEDY". Did Travers see the same film as me in March??

The DVD packaging is the same as the final theatrical poster, minus the quote.

True, though it still doesn't change the fact that it's honestly not very good. (IMO)

Well the movie was Smart, we can all agree on that.
Sexy, well there was Kirsten Dunst jumping up and down on a bed with her nightgown and underwear, thats pretty Sexy.
Seriously Funny Comedy.... well this is the part that I can't agree on. It has its moments but i wouldn't call this movie a Comedy. Maybe they are trying to cash in on the Jim Carey fans believing this is one of his comedies sorta like Adam Sandler in Punch-Drunk Love.

No question it's a drama, not a comedy. I notice very strong thematic similarities with the work of Philip K. Dick. I wonder why more people don't notice that too?

I'd say Romance.

Sheesh, such a great film and people are bitching about cover art... too often collector's are concerned about the material over teh substance. Makes me ill.

Then again, some people would like to see the artwork and packaging reflect quality of the film they are purchasing.

Yes, but do we honestly expect a company to sacrifice sales (do we honestly believe having Jim Carrey's mug on the cover does not increase sales? I have no doubt that that type of marketing does work) in the name of a pretty cover? While I'm sure many companies would love to do creative artwork like this, I'd prefer that this movie have the chance of being viewed by a larger audience. In the end, I just want the movie and I understand the choices they make.

Now, the Harry Potter cover is inexcusable. I mean, the theatrical poster had even bigger heads on it! Why not use it!

i agree. As long as you give me the film in a good quality dvd then I'm pleased. covers will fade and paper will tear.
