For all we know he could be 200 years old in episode I!

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

Even if he was many years older than Anakin in Ep.1, he could conceivably still be alive while Anakin is still alive in Ep.6. Who knows how long the lifespan of gungans is?

And the other thing is his voice. I don't remember the other gungans sounding like Jar Jar, although they were much more mature. Jar would be older of course but his "one of a kind?" annoying voice and attitude could also still be the same, depending again, on the lifespan of the species.

Lucas is putting this stuff in for completeness. Even though it may be historically inaccurate, he may not have thought about it, or even cared. He's simply trying to tie the end to the beginning.

That being said, I'm glad I'm not buying the set. The packaging gets my vote for the sleaziest, cheapest quality release for such a hugely anticipated set. That's the best they could do?

Well did you read the title? I didn't read every post in this thread because unlike most people, I don't like movies being ruined for me.

Joke or not, this allows a very bad presidence (sp). DvdTalk is about the only message board I go on, because other message boards/newsgroups (mainly) have jerks that post ending of movies in thread titles. I don't need to see that here.

Lighten up, I don't see any way this can be considered a spoiler.

Hmmm. Still don't get it. What is spoiled for you. That Jar Jar re-appears? How could that possibly spoil anything? Did you not know that They celebrated at the end? What? If you've not seen the Return of the Jedi, then a) how could you possibly care if Jar Jar is in it, or b) how could Jar Jar's presence spoil the ending for you. For that matter, why are you reading the thread.

No spoilers here...

Three years, IIRC.

What does "IIRC" mean?

Now that you say 3 years and whatever IIRC means, I think that's exactly right.

Is that using my "social skills" well enough?

There are 2 types of people when it comes to SW: those who will defend anything about it, and those who will find anything wrong with it.

I'm happy to be of the former group; I think it makes life more enjoyable.

If you are going to make all the changes Lucas made to the films, why not throw in Jar Jar as a final f' you to the haters.

I really like Jar Jar being in there at the end of Jedi and Jar Jar being the reason the emperor gets in power during episode II. It shows that Lucas has a sense of humor about the whole thing.

Are they really selling for that much? I've got my copy collecting dust in the garage...hmmm.

Nonetheless, as you can tell from me willing to sell my original copies, the changes botehr me little. I used to love the yub yub song, but in the end these mvoies are still fairly close to what they were, and I'm happy to have them. And...well...I happen to like Lucas' CG stuff. The only change I really hate is the Han stepping on Jabba's tail thing...just cause it looks remarkably stupid. But oh well.

I hope this comment isn't directed at me because that's not what I said.

I made two separate statements. I am not buying the set (for other reasons). I was also not impressed with the packaging. Cripes, my VHS special edition set is in a much sturdier box than the dvd set, it is just so flimsy. And sleazy little inserts too. Yuck.

He could be a clone, like Darth Sidious, the evil clone of Chancellor Palpatine.

Thanks for the spoiler. Next thing you'll tell me that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father.

See, that's what I love about SW bitchers. You guys have to take everything seriously.
