A Night at the Opera was the last DVD I bought that I already owned on Laserdisc and Star Wars will be the next, though they are not exactly the same movie as gone over and over in other threads. I keep the laserdiscs anyway regardless of the film on LD. My copy of Night at the Opera for instance has a cool photo gallery among other things the DVD is missing and I still have my Shindler's list LD limited edition set next to the DVD gift set.

The picture looks fantastic on the Artisan release, and as I recall it's not even anamorphic. It is not coming up up at all on DVDpricesearch, but Amazon has it for $12.28. Don't expect much in the way of extras, as there is an interview with Kevin McCarthy and that's about it.

I haven't viewed the widely available (Lion's Gate?) release that comes up on DVDpricesearch, but it can be had from a number of retailers in the $9.00 range. Not sure about the specs or extras on it.

EDIT: I popped my copy of the Artisan dvd release of Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1956) in last night to have a look at the transfer, and it was not nearly as good as I had thought; guess my memory is fading with age. The print used for the transfer was really rather dirty; I have not seen the other release, but I would give it a try first if you are still looking to replace your laserdisc.

Looks like it will be the Star Wars Trilogy. Most of my LD's have been released on DVD now. I think I'm down to a couple Disney features and a WS Timecop I'm still waiting for.

Star Wars. Of course I'll still have my "Definitive" Collection on the shelf.

Like others have said, Star Wars for sure. I'm pretty sure I've updated every other LD I had to DVD. I only had about 30 LDs, compared to having a couple hundred DVDs.

The Star Wars trillogy are the last 3 LDs in my collection. I've sold all the rest, but I think I'm going to keep these so I still have the original cuts as well.
