I cannot wait! :D

Very cool. I honestly don't know if I can bring myself to rebuy these yet again, but that ultimate box set is pretty sweet.

Mike Lowrey 09-17-04 09:08 PM

Excellent!!!

So it looks like we get 5.1 remasterings for all the old mono and 2.0 films, plus each film up to TWINE gets a 4K restoring from Lowry Digital.

Awesome.

I'm buying 'em. Glad I passed on this latest re-release.

Hope there'll be a choice in packaging. Although that cinematic film reel thing is cool. It won't fit well on the shelf, if you know what I mean, Vern.

Jericho 09-17-04 09:29 PM

I've seen that picture before. Looks very cool, but is that even R1? Not that different regions stop most people here...

dbmottle 09-17-04 09:35 PM

I'm a huge Bond fan, but I will pass on these. Sony has acquired MGM so we should see these on Blueray soon after the format is released.

marty888 09-17-04 09:52 PM

There are too many unbought titles on my wish list to even consider rebuying these. I'll live with what I have, which is quite good.

Ojam 09-17-04 10:10 PM

Will these new discs be released individualy? I would really like to get them all, but don't want that film real, or the box, although they are bad ass, I would rather have them on my shelf, with room to put any new bond films that come out.

JoeyOhhhh 09-17-04 11:05 PM

I'll gladly double dip on these films. The currents discs have had a good run (some are the earliest discs I owned), and I'm looking forward to the Lowry transfers

Actually, I think that isa replica of a gun barel. I could be wrong though.

It is very cool. I think I will have to do a double dip.

I doubt we will get that case though. The US never gets the collectable cases. :(

Abob Teff 09-17-04 11:55 PM

Sah-weet!! I've only picked up one of the boxsets, so I guess I won't have too many qualms with buying a deluxe set . . . pending pricing information.

While the flip out thing looks cool, I don't know just how practical it really is . . . and I miss my covers!

eau 09-18-04 12:18 AM

Cool packaging...but how are you going to stick it on the DVD shelf?

hang it on the wall silly..

Dubya 09-18-04 12:39 AM

I will definitely pass. The only way I would rebuy those films would be if each "Bond Babe" came with it ;)

Even Tula? :)

tommyp007 09-18-04 09:47 AM

basaro 09-18-04 10:17 AM

Very Cool. This is the reason I've not bought a single Bond movie yet. I do hope they get released in alternate packaging though. That deluxe packaging looks sweet, but I'd prefer to have keepcases, they're just more practical. :)

Fok 09-18-04 11:29 AM

Nice! Are they going to include Bronson's movies as well?

mikewendt 09-18-04 12:30 PM

That would definatly not fit on the shelf...

cajun_junky 09-18-04 12:49 PM

I have also been holding off for the new releases next year. I personally like the collection case.

emhello 09-18-04 01:21 PM

Will these be released individually as well? I didn't buy the last 2 sets because I don't want them all.

NitroJMS 09-18-04 01:49 PM

I remember seeing these pictures months ago on this forum as potential packaging for the original discs. This article might not be entirely true.

QuiGonJosh 09-18-04 01:59 PM

Has much has I love Bond...I am not buying 20 DVD's all over again!

jough 09-18-04 03:58 PM

The only way I can see re-buying the Bonds would be in Blu-Ray.

Mike Lowrey 09-18-04 05:08 PM

Well, like I said earlier, since I didn't buy these last releases, this new release will definately be a no brainer.

NEUMANN 09-18-04 05:43 PM

I own all the Bond films to,and like many who do,will not rebuy these, maybe when they come out in HD,which will probably only be a year after they release this newest set

whoster69 09-18-04 05:46 PM

I feel the same way Neumann. It's annoying that they redo it so soon. Why not just get it right the first time?

well actually the current ones are quite old(great dvd's though)and i have no qualm with them re-doing them after all its been years since they came out(the sets last year where the same dvds that had been sold years earlier).I just feel that with this newest set not coming out for 13 more months that the HD bonds will be out within 12 months after that,so there is no way i am rebuying all 20 non HD bonds lol

Well to be fair, the first DVDs of Bond came out way back in 1999. They came out in three waves ending in 2000, but the recent releases were nothing more than the original re-releases. And they did get it pretty right back then. Compared to other releases around that time, the Bond DVDs are pretty nice.

I Agree, they still hold up great even though they where very early dvd releases, they all have good PQ and tons of extras,am more then happy with them until HD DVD bonds come out

Mike Lowrey 09-18-04 06:00 PM

Are you folks sure? I've heard that the early Bond films have some pretty dismal transfers.

Yes am sure,Dr. No and Goldfinger both have good transfers, while they are not state of the art(think north by northwest)they are still good transfers, and by no means bad transfers

Here is a review of Goldfinger http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=48

QuiGonJosh 09-18-04 06:14 PM

yeah...I have no problems at all on the early Bond transfers...I mean they're 40+ years old! And OHMSS looks incredible for a 36 year old movie!

And everyone knows Bond carrys an automatic not a revolver lol

JimRochester 09-18-04 07:17 PM

I'm only missing From Russia With Love so I won't be rebuying any big sets. Hopefully that will mean a nice supply of individual discs available to complete my collection.

emhello 09-18-04 08:10 PM

Does anyone know whether these will also be available individually??

They are good, but they deserve better treatment.

Diamonds Are Forever stands out in my mind as a horrible transfer.

critterdvd 09-19-04 02:32 AM

Will these be release as Sony Titles or MGM titles? I know Sony owns the rights now, but are they still keeping the MGM (actually united artist) logo's for exsisting movies? Thanks!
