North and South Finally on DVD

I'm sure someone has mentioned it before, but here it is....

North and South is finally on DVD, all 3 "books" together in one set for $50, what a bargain!

No, well yes, but what I meant was that the news of this release came out about 2 months ago.

Here's the news from TVShowsOnDVD dated 7/9/04.

So far DVDSoon has the best pre-order price of about $38 with the release date less than a month away. Also here was an earlier thread on this topic.

I just picked up the N&S set and was pleasantly surprised that they packaged each "book" in a standard dvd case within the larger outer packaging. They have the flaps with the first dvd on it within each case. I was thinking they'd package it similar to season sets with the fold out design. The outer case is thick cardboard and very sturdy. With the cover art and design, it makes a handsome set. I heard that Time Life is releasing just Book I to buy by itself, but I really don't see why anyone would want to see the first one without seeing at least the second one.

I wish they had included the original network promos that ran before each episode like WB did with The Thorn Birds, but no big loss in the long run.

I'm gonna watch the entire series before starting in on the documentary. I'm really looking forward to it.

And he is going to make me watch it with him. I guess it isn't all bad considering I love North and the South also. The books are better though.

I love Jason (Caricature80)

i got mine in the mail today and am also very impressed with the packaging. i wish that they were some inserts but i can deal. sad to hear that the network promos aren't there. i watched our VHS (shudder) tapes so much as a kid i just figured that they were part of the show.
