New DIE HARD single disc?

I stopped by Circuit City on my lunch hour to pick up a couple DVD’s for my dad, after seeing Die Hard listed as part of their “2 for $15” deal.

When I got there, I found that the 2-disc “Five Star” version wasn’t part of this deal. Rather, it was a single disc packaged exactly like the old non-anamorphic release from about ’99 or so.

But looking at the fine print, I noticed a DTS track listed. That was definitely NOT on the old version. (I used to own it.)

Is this actually disc one from the “Five Star” edition, or a re-press of the first-wave version?

I would assume that its just disc one from the 5 star edition. It wouldn't make any sense to reissue the old version when a superior version already exists. Fox has reissued many of their films such as Moulin Rouge, Cast away, ID4, From Hell, Planet of the Apes, etc. into single disc editions. You simply lose the bonus material on disc two.

Saw it today at Best Buy... it probably is just the first disk out of the 5-Star/Collector's Edition, as i took a glance at the specs and it included DTS, Commentaries, etc...

Is this anamorphic widescreen format? If so, and CC still has some, it maybe worth getting at 7.50. I may have to go to wallys and see if they have it cheaper.

Does anyone know where you can get a good deal on Die Harder the special edition?

It costs around $22-$24 at most places.

I gotta tell ya...I think the single disc is the way to go...cause I owned the 2-Disc and really I didnt find anything of that much value on the second disc...seemed like a waste...no documentary or featurettes...seemed pretty weak to me...

Thanks QuiGonJosh, this is very tempting? I may bit if CC has both Die Hard and The Silence of the Lambs.

I picked up the new single disk Die Hard, along with Jason X, in the CC 2 for $15. Both have been on my wish list for awhile, but didn't want them that badly at full price. But at $7.50 each, I couldn't pass. Gotta love these weekly CC and BB '2 or 3-fer' deals...
