which DVD version of Day of the Triffids?

I didn't even DOTT was available on DVD and now I find there are 2 versions. One from Cheezy Flicks and one from Allied Artists Classics. I'm reading mixed reiviews on the quality of both, would like to hear from anyone with either version on both the sound and picture quality. I know the Cheezy Flicks version is widescreen but I'm reading it plays very poorly...the AA is full screen but apparently plays better and has slightly better image. Are both versions stereo?

The Allied Artists version is referred to as "ultra crappy" or similar. If you have a region free player there seem to be a couple of decent R2 version available:

In both cases the reviews indicate 2.35:1 letterboxed (not anamorphic) which suggests a laserdisc port, but I'm just guessing. On the Partner release, the sound is given as mono; on the Second Sight, it's 2.0 stereo.

With so many versions available this may be in the public domain (I saw a Goodtimes version referenced, they release a lot of PD titles) so getting a high-quality release may be unlikely. This is just an assumption on my part however.
