Dawn of the Dead, how to watch?
I have never seen the original Dawn of the Dead before, but I have seen the remake. I plan on getting the 4 disc set tomorrow night after work. My question is, what order should I end up watching this in
1) Theatrical version
2) Extended version
3) European version
If I watch the extended version, is there any point to watching the theatrical version. Any changes on the european version or is it just edited more?

I would watch it in the order you have listed.
The european version takes a bit of the light mood out of it. I prefer this cut myself. Very happy to see it. Hopefully it is the same quality as the divimax version. So I can retire my poor quality Zombi.

So if I watch the extended version, and I don't watch the theatrical or european, I won't be missing anything? I suppose I will watch them eventually, but it seems like I won't be missing anything.
Is that correct?

No. The argento cut gives the movie a darker tone. Not sure how the extended stacks up against theatrical. You might be able to get by with two viewings. Extended and European "Agento Cut"

Can anyone explain that "political humor" to me, is it trying to imply people that are pro-kerry are zombies? I don't get it.
Oh and I can't wait to get my hands on this set, I'll probably watch the theatrical version first (I think its supposed to have the best transfer).

You should watch the Theatrical Version to get the true directors original prefered cut of the film.
It is the true masterpiece out of all the cuts and the one that deserves all the praise it gets.
Great charecters, biting satire, action, thrills, chills, drama and a nice pace(great editing) with terrific score.
Meanwhile the extended rough cut version is a bloated bore. Too long, repetitive, uneeded scenes, pacing and editing not fine tuned,so it lacks any real punch. The Temp music score is beyond terribile and the wrong music plays at the wrong moments, intensity level is gone,it is just a rough cut in need of some fine tuned editing and cutting down on the useless exess.
Then we have the Argento cut, which I have not seen, but am sure it is pretty lackluster. The reason?
Since this is not an Argento picture. Argento editing(to make the film faster) won't work. Sure it will move faster, but lack the atmosphere, charecterization and punch of the Romero approved theatrical cut. Which will make it a more empty experiance in my opinion.
So the best and only cut truely worth viewing is the theatrical version in all its glory. You get the best of both worlds(action, gore, but also drama & charecterization)..while the other two cuts are not truelly special, since they are either bloated and dull,or two empty and mindless trying to quicking up the pace.

Slow? No, Rypro, it wasn't because of that. Maybe I'm a little biased since I prefer good science fiction and dramas more than horror flicks, but my opinion is that Dawn of the Dead is hokey.
Actually, Alien is probably my favorite horror flick.
