Does anyone know if there is going to be a super-uber collectors ed. coming out on this. Man, I hate double dipping. I can hold out if there is such coming out.

I think the current bare-bones edition will go on moratorium around April 3rd of next year. However, a brand new special edition should appear in stores several days later. ;)

This one is pretty barebones. I really don't doubt that mel would want to double dip. Not to mention fox being more then happy to distribute not 1, but 2 possible dvds. People will buy this in droves tomorrow. No point NOT double dipping with all the extras and so forth since this is just film on disc.

i think that this is a good copy for most christians and church groups anyway, maybe that's why they produced this one now and will work on an SE later on.

this was rushed out to fill a demand that people wanted to see the film. I dont think that church groups and christians hate special features and I'm sure they would enjoy them. The purpose of this was to get it out the door already.

Glad I saw it, but don't know if I could watch it again. It wouldn't surprise me if they released a SE down the road. For a movie like this with all the hype, they have to.

Of course there will be a special edition down the road. The only question is how long will it be? I'm STILL waiting for an SE of James Cameron's Titanic!

I found an easter egg on the disc. it shows Jesus handing a basket of eggs to a fluffy bunny.

I was at Target today and saw Passion DVDs piled up in THREE different locations in the store.

Seems to support my personal idea this won't sell well on DVD. Why? Well, I'm not a religious person, but I wanted to see this movie, and I did see it. It's a powerful, well-made film, a true experience, and should be seen - once. I was in a packed theater where there were people who I was amazed didn't collapse or leave in tears because they couldn't take it. Given that, I can't fathom why anyone would want to watch this movie repeatedly, which is a standard I use when deciding what DVDs to buy.

Conversely, there was only one of the Star Trek first season sets. I bought that.
