Chris Beniot DVD, something I found out

I was watching the dvd today and I realized something. All of the music they used or most of it was taken out. Instead they replaced it with beniot's current theme without the words. I have most of the events recorded, so the theme for his WCW matches didn't match up. He also had the same WWE theme in his ECW match....

so I'm guessing they couldn't get the rights for his old WCW theme. Thought I'd pass that along and see if anyone else noticed that

Yeah I noticed that also. I don't know why during Bert Hart's intro they didn't use his old wwf theme they do own that. I also hated during 2 matches where they cut the commentary to pieces who knows why.

WWE usually won't shell out for licensing fees for DVDs when they can overdub with music that they created in-house. You see this a lot on their pay-per-view releases, too. The dead air in the commentary is where Jesse Ventura used to be, but he won't let WWE use his commentary due to some legal issues surrounding rights and royalties.

Between that and the blurred logos, it's getting harder to really enjoy vintage WWE WWF.

what I don't understand is Booker T used his WCW theme in WWE for a long time before getting a new one. So why did they need to overdub his music? Surely WWE wouldn't have let him use his old music for as long as they did if they were paying royalties on it? I always assumed that the WCW theme music was part of the whole WCW package and that WWE owned it all.

I think Jimmy Hart owns the rights to most of the WCW themes he was the one who wrote them.

Some were, but I thought some also licensed from some company that provides generic music for various tv shows. I remember hearing Benoit's and Booker T's old themes on ESPN and other shows as generic background music. I heard Goldberg's theme was the same deal, I'm not sure.
