Any plans to release a James Dean Box?

I'm a huge James Dean fan, and I own Rebel Without a Cause and Giant on DVD. Giant is a good DVD, but Rebel is only ok. I really want East of Eden to be released on DVD, and a re-release of Rebel with lots of extras would be awesome.

Does anyone know if there are plans to release some sort of James Dean Box with all his movies plus his TV stuff?

Don't know about a box set. East of Eden is supposedly tied up in some sort of legal/rights wrangle, but Warner Bros. is allegedly working on a 2-disc edition of Rebel Without a Cause, probably as a 50th anniversary edition for 2005.

I would imagine that if Warner gets the East of Eden mess cleaned up by next year, we could see a James Dean Signature Collection.

What exactly is the legal mess that East Of Eden is tied up in anyway? I always hear about that being the reason, but never hear why...

not sure what the legal problems were (maybe something with Steinbecks estate...i've heard its a problem with the author of the original work that is keeping Laura and Letter To Three Wives from being released sooner) but anyway, they're cleared and EOE is supposed to be on track for next year.

i'm sure at some point we will see a 6 disc boxed set of the Dean films since Giant is already a 2 discer, and another edition f Rebel will almost certainly be 2 discs as well.

Thanks for the information!

I'm crossing my fingers for a fullpacked James Dean Box next year. It's the 50th anniversary for both Eden and Rebel, so it could definitely happen. The most important thing, though, is that Eden gets a DVD release. It's Dean's best performance, and possibly his best movie.
