For extras sure, the standard version will be better than the Superbit. However, the Superbit will have much better picture and sound, which is what dvd's are all about.

I agree...will probably go with the Superbit for the same reason.

Superbit !! Wish they had a 2 disc or even 3 disc set with the Superbit that contained all the extras.

I'll be getting superbit. For extras, I'll gonna wait for Spidey 2.5 or Deluxe or whenever the giftset goes on clearance

Just what I am going to do.

Superbit, what a marketing scam. All they had to do was include the extras on the Superbit also.

Yes, but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the Superbit line? It was created so that titles could be put out with the absolute best A/V quality possible, and if you lump on all those extras onto the disc then that's just not possible.

I'll go for the Superbit, but sorta wished Columbia would at least fill the superbit disks up. Most of the ones that I have collected are around 6 gigs.

No, the SB of Spidey 1 is 1.85:1 just like the original WS release. At least the SB copy I have is...

The aspect ratio was changed for Spider-Man 2. Raimi decided to go with 2.35 for the sequel even though he used 1.85 for the first.

Raimi wanted 1.85:1, but DP Bill Pope convinced him to use 2.35:1 for the fact it would be the only way to get Spidey and Doc Ock in the same shot.

That's correct! Raimi wanted a bigger picture for Spider-Man and Doc Ock

and it worked perfectly! S2 used the whole scope ratio to full effect! Bill Pope is a god! After all his extraordinary work on the Matrix Trilogy...he nearly one ups himself on S2...
