A great deal of information has surfaced regarding the long-talked about "History of the WWE Championship" DVD (release date 12/28/04). Holy ****ing shit!!!
That can not be true...no way...no how!!! |
I'm not really into wrestling, but. . .wow.
If it is true...I hope they sell it without the belt...that would make the price way too sky high...
I don't believe this. The link is dead. And I don't know if a "livejournal" entry counts as a "news source".
I can't see the WWE putting out something this extensive. It's going to cost a fortune and they wouldn't put out something like this unless they could get a ton of sales off it. That's too many disks at once for the average buyer and it's just going to encourage bootlegs, which the WWE is cracking down on pretty hard these days. BUT, I'm going to start saving my money now, just in case. I'd rather see a history of the NWA title though. |
Jiminy Christmas....!
Talk about comprehensive....but will I have to refinance my condo to afford it?? |
Geez, I've never bought a Wrestling video before in my life, but this set I may consider getting if the price ain't too outrageous.
This is going to cost $500, at least, if true.
As far as I know, the WWE is planning on a best of Four Horsemen disk for the end of the year and a History of ECW set (2005). Eddie Guerrero 2 disk set comes out next month. |
I don't know about this. It would make much more sense to release these as individual volumes, without the box or any other fancy replica stuff. That way, they could continue to release volumes as the years went on...and it would be much easier for more casual fans to pick and choose.
These specs. sound like total bullshit. This has been listed as a 12/31/04 release date and the retail is $24.95. This will probablly just be a WWE documentary of the championship over the years with a select few matches thrown in as extras.

I really don't think that's true, lol...it'd be at least $500 and it'd be a VERY limited buying audience.
Later. RJS |
That's a lot of netflix right there...
Sounds like the "livejournal" source was just a wish list, not reality. I read all the pro-wrestling sites and subscribe to some of the trade sheets, and I never heard of anything this extensive.
Wow, that would be totally cool but it sounds very fishy to me.
I heard the history of the title (WWE/WWF) is scheduled to be only 2 discs. pwinisder.com mentioned this this afternoon.
14 disc set, combined with WWE's markup for DVDs as it is, plus the hardcover book and replica belt make this sound like wishful dreaming.
Now if WWE were to put out 7 dual sided disc set with these matches, that would be more reasonable and affordable (without the collectable stuff). |
Sounds too good to be true, and if it were I hate to think that it will get tainted by ending with JBL as the champion when all is said and done. I know it is current, but couldn't they wait until somebody better is champ or end it with Eddie?
I dont believe it, but it would be sweet
Hrmm..i'd pay a 100$ for a 14 disc set like that ;-)
i have to go change my pants.......
Sounds amazing but it reminds me of when the Ric Flair DVD was about to come out they listed about 15-20 additional matches that were later not on the set.

Thats such BS, I wish that stuff would come out but sadly its just some mark trying to make stuff up.
Well, your thread title is true...
"This can't be true" |
Either way, the 2 Disc version sounds cool as well, i really enjoy the WWe/WWf documentaries.
Sweet
I gave up watching wrestling a few years ago when it turned to garbage (in my opinion anyway), but I would love to see some of these classics. |
No way this could be true. The belt alone would be $350.
Looks like a decent set, hopefully it will be released. Wonder what the belt will look like?
I suggested this in an old WWE dvd thread, although I was thinking they could just include the title switches (and no belt replica). At present, there were 77 title switching matches, with some being iron man and stuff like that. That would still probably be 7-10 loaded discs, but that would be manageable.
Cool I will be over this one!
If it is true :D |
-Ric Flair vs. Bret "Hit Man" Hart (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, 10/12/92)
If they do a History they better add that match on there. Wasn't that a Iron Man Match? |
Problem is, the newer wrestling fans woun't appriciate the older matches, as they are (unless edited) probably over an hour long, especially the Sammartino matches. Nice though that Vince is showing some recognition for sammartino.

Originally posted by krazykat72 No, it wasn't. It runs something like 30 minutes and it's Bret's first WWF World Title win. The Iron man match was in early Jan. 03 in Boston MA I believe. -Paul Jacobi- |

Nice though that Vince is showing some recognition for sammartino. I have NOT seen this huge box set announced anywhere. Not with this match listing. You can't trust a match listing that was posted on someone's blog. If anything, this will just be a two disk set, with a documentary and some bonus matches. I wish the original post was true, but refuse to believe it until I see it on a reliable web site. |
