To answer your question, I assume that if a series sells well, it'll be re-release as a boxset eventually. It really depends on the studios, some like RightStuf and CPM announces their boxsets ahead of time, other studios you just have to wait and see.

Bandai has released a number of series in a "brick" - basically a multi-compartment keepcase. So, the WHR boxset could be a brick, or it could be a real boxset.

Sorry, can't seem to find the link. I thought I saw it on animeondvd.com's news page. Maybe seeing the other collections announced made me wistful and was thinking that I saw WHR in the announcement as well.

Yeah, I was referring to an authentic import CD, just forgot my sarcastic smileys. People often forget to mention the CD when they talk about the box + extras and it makes it sound like you're not getting much for that extra $30.

If you're talking about genuine Japanese Import CDs, they are expensive ($30+). There are tons of bootlegs CDs out there and they are dirt cheap.

WHR Vol. 1 LE includes a soundtrack CD, shot glass, T-shirt and artbox. That's why it's listed at a wooping $59.99. For the record, the soundtrack CD is not an import version. It's a licensed version made by Bandai locally, very much like the CDs in .hack//SIGN LE's and GitS:SAC.

Limited because? just a simple number now a days.. sheesh. atleast cowboy bebop had a nice case that was numbered. if this is just a brick I would much rather stick with my box, shirt, shot glass and cels in each dvd.

Official Announcement from Bandai Ent:
http://bandai-ent.com/retailers/BEIW...er8-5-2004.pdf
The PDF has pic and specs of the WHR collection, along with other collections such as .hack//SIGN, Escaflowne TV + Movie, etc...
They are limited in the sense that retailers can't order any more after the cut-off date. Probably to cover themselves such that they don't have to keep on making excessive number of copies.
Based on the pic, WHR and .hack//SIGN look like a "brick". They both include an EXCLUSIVE COLLECTOR's PIN SET?! WTF!

ugh, yeah, it does look like a brick. Oh well. aside from the pin set, I'll have to pass on that. I have all but one disc to complete the box I have.
sucks about the pin. oh well.

I'm kinda pissed about the exclusive pin sets. That is kind of an F You to the early adopters. Granted I have shirts, a gruntie plushie, a shot glass, etc. (lets not forget the .hack box that just awkwardly sits on the dvd shelf
), but...
I want a Robin pin set damnit

I purposedly bought all the LE version of .hack and WHR thinking that I would have all the LE goodies. Now we get screwed by a potentially gorgeous pin set, unless we are silly enough to fork out another $$$ on what are essentially the same discs packaged in a freakin' brick.
