Andromeda S2 Box are flippers!

This was a surprise- is the individual release flippers too? S1 is all 2-disc sets. None of the other ADV boxes use flippers.

DVD Box set Rule #1: Be consitent. Do not change the format of a box set release from season to season!

Damnit! This set is completely useless to me in my changer.

No, all individual Season 2 collections were 2-discers with disc art.

Good thing, I'm going with the individual volumes. No wonder the Andromeda box sets are cheap. Box sets run around $40, while buying the individual volumes will run you about $120.

Mike, as I said the 1st season set were 2-diskers. In fact, this is the first ADV set I've ever owned to use flippers.

I want a refund, and feel I'm due one because nowhere does it state this set uses flippers, not on the box and not on their website.

Weird , I thought it would be cheaper to just throw existing stock into a cheap box. Still doesn't effect my purchase plans, as Mike Lowrey stated buying the indivual runs 120, I can easily live with flippers to save money.

Can people email ADV and ask them not to use flippers anymore? Being this is their first use of flippers, I think we can stop this before they start doing it on a regular basis.

This is really inconvinient to those of us with changers. I would not have started this series had I known they were going to do this.

In fact, I was so concerned that Farscape S3 Box would be flippers I just purchased them individually off eBay ($73, not bad).

I've seen some DVDs specify whether or not is single or dual layer (that's part of Universal's packaging, for instance), but I don't think I've ever seen a set say if a disc is double-sided.

I can't imagine you'd be granted a refund. There's nothing inherently faulty about the DVDs, and they'll play fine on any standard DVD player. Sure, you don't get art on one side of the disc, and sure, double-sided discs are more prone to being scratched, but those aren't manufacturing flaws.

The Farscape boxes up until this point have been the same individual retail releases in a slipcase box (just like the S1 Andromeda box).

Adam, this is what customer service is for. They changed the product midstream without notifying the consumer. The issue is not whether I deserve a refund or not, just that I am a dissatisfied customer and will request one.

I'm quite sure they did this to justify the substantially lower price compared to the individual releases. I, too, was shocked and unhappy about it, as it doesn't match the size of the Season One boxset. Personally I think releasing an entire season at less than the price of two individual releases is insulting enough to the people who bought the individual sets anyway. But I held out, thinking I'd be getting the whole thing anyway. I did, but not quite the same.

2-sided DVDs have been around longer than 1-sided changers have been (and why I don't have one.)

Yes, but the point is that for long series flippers have been mostly avoided.

I own lots of TV shows on DVD and not a single one uses a flipper.

I've only had one and that was the Outer Limits Season 1 (The original series)

I believe that the West Wing discs are all double sided, dual layered discs. I think it may even mention that on the back of the cardboard packaging. Well over 20 hours on 5 discs.

I don't have a DVD changer, so I like this better.

Flippers are like...from the mid 90's. They seriously need to get a flank of emails from people.

2 sided discs for TV show sets are becoming fairly common recently:

Knight Rider s1
Wonder Woman s1
V: The Series
Kung Fu s1
ER s1

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones I've gotten lately.

2 sided discs for tv shows dont really bother me too much. Ive been watching V - The Series, and although the discs look like anyone with a dvd burner could have made them, it hasnt spoilt my enjoyment by having to get up every 3 or 4 episodes and turn the disc over.

Both my West Wing season sets are flippers (DVD-18). And I think my Battlestar Galactica set is, too.
