i couldnt believe how unfunny this movie was"

I loved it though.

Wow! to tell you the truth, I was skeptical that they would actually make the Wake Up Ron Burgandy movie, let alone release it with the DVD release of Anchorman!

Definitely not the funniest movie in the world, but a lot of laughs.

i just thought it was pretty lame there was a packed theatre and i heard more laughs during the previews rather than the movie i cracked a smile when the guy in the bar said everyone shut the hell up ron bergendes on. other than that i just thought it was too childish.

I remember MacKay on Fresh Air some time ago and he talked about possibly doing this...complaining that even some stuff in the ads was cut from the theatrical version. And yeah, it sounds like a LOT of Ferrell being Ferrell....not that that's a bad thing....

If you don't agree this is the greatest DVD ever...

...I will fight you.

And that's no lie.

>>Why? The Fast and the Furious, xXx, and S.W.A.T. were all released after Christmas Day and they sold millions of copies. Don't underestimate releasing a DVD after Christmas.

Anchorman is the kind of movie that, if I'm in a bad mood, can say is stupid and not funny but if I'm happy and relax, I think it's funny. Anything will ferrell does is funny. It's not THAT funny, it can't make unhappy people laugh, but it's enjoyable and fun to watch with friends.

As of now, there is no 4-hour director's cut. They're just putting all the extra material on another DVD. "Wake Up Ron Burgundy."

Although if someday they did decide to throw it all in one 4-hour cut... I'd so be there!

are you guys serious that there was enough material for a 4 hour cut? the director had to be crazy to film such a movie; no comedy ever breaks the 2 hour mark; what was he thinking to film a 4 hour extravaganza? i bet it's just a bunch of extended scenes and alternate takes that didn't work just thrown together and called a 4 hour cut

My guess is that it wasn't planned as a four hour movie, there was just enough improvisation on set that there were four hours of usuable footage.

For reference, how long was the original? I thought it was less than 2 hours. A 4 hour version will be so spectacularly awesome.

I tried to search and could not come up with an answer.

Is the only way to watch the theatrical cut of Anchorman in fullscreen? Was the theatrical cut released in widescreen or was it just the extended/unrated cut in widescreen? Thanks!

This by far was one of the worst movies I have ever had to suffer through in my life. The only reason why I understood what you were saying is because my girlfriend is obsessed with this movie. This movie alone made me realize what an over-blown fool Will Ferrell is. Act like an idiot on film for 2 hours = make millions of dollars. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just jealous.

Talladega Nights was the first Will Ferrell movie I actually liked.
