Re-Animator: New Millennium Edition?

Anyone have any info on this
http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...item_id=619753
Is it a reissue? a single disc downgrade? a new set?

neatMCsammer 07-21-04 10:42 PM

Ooh, weird. I don't know what it is, but I don't like the looks of it...everyone buy the Millennium edition NOW, while you still can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -biggrin-

asianxcore 07-21-04 10:45 PM

I couldn't find anything on Elite's site about it. It quite possibly could be a 1 disc.

speedy1961 07-21-04 11:44 PM

Price reduction I suppose.

TomOpus 07-22-04 08:53 AM

After DVD Empire toyed with my emotions on the "Weird"Al Video DVD, I don't believe stuff on their site stating things "New"...

My money is on what speedy said.

Richard Malloy 08-31-04 07:55 AM

So, price reduction or overall downgrade?

From what little info I've gleaned from the various online retailers, it seems to me that we're looking at the same two-disc set, but perhaps without the green amaray case.

I've wanted to pick up the ME for awhile now, and I don't know whether to jump on the remaining inventory or wait till whatever happens in September... ack! Anybody got the official info?

Josh-da-man 08-31-04 09:47 AM

I really don't know what it'll be.

I doubt that they'd drop the second disc... they've already released a single disc edition of the movie, so it doesn't seem like there's any point in doing that again, but I could be wrong.

A new case/artwork might possible, especially if they're going through the trouble of making it a re-release with a new UPC number. Which it looks they're doing, because price-drops don't usually warrant a second release, do they?

And I doubt it's just a DVDEmpire thing, because it's also up on Amazon.

Adrenaline 09-02-04 01:07 PM

If you go on Amazon.com it lists it as the 2 disc version but with DTS

darmok 09-02-04 02:50 PM

dts??!!?

AnonomusBob15 09-02-04 03:04 PM

it has always had dts......

Richard Malloy 09-02-04 03:36 PM

Ok... confusion. WTF is the deal with this?

Johnny Zhivago 09-02-04 03:42 PM

I'd wager it's simply a price drop on the existing Millennium Edition DVD, which, yes, has always contained a DTS track.

Adrenaline 09-02-04 03:47 PM

What I meant was Amazon.com's current release comes up but under the other formats description it lists the new one as "DVD widescreen with DTS Stereo"

the green box 2 disc-er went OOP a few months back...so hopefully a just coming back

Anybody have any new information on this new listing for the Milennium edition of Re-Animator?
It's listed for $13.99 on Amazon and I'm tempted to finally upgrade from my Single disc SE at that price...

$13.99 is a GREAT price for the ME. But the cheapskate in me hopes that Deep Discount DVD will match or beat that.

QuiGonJosh 09-11-04 04:03 PM

I saw it at FYE for $21.99...same for I Spit on Your Grave...it was the same 2-Disc DVD...GET IT!

Beware of DDD and "Re-Animator."

I remember, not too long ago, people were ordering the Re-Animator ME and getting the old version.

cinephan 09-12-04 01:08 PM

This is the double disc in the green box. It's the same thing, just cheaper.

Spiral Staircase 09-14-04 04:43 PM

The two-disc version of Re-Animator is available at Borders for $14.99 ($12.75 with the current coupon.) It looks like there was a price reduction on the set.

Richard Malloy 09-15-04 11:05 AM

Is that an online coupon, starecase?

Richard Malloy 09-15-04 11:14 AM

:) Never mind... I think I found it: http://www.bordersstores.com/feature...coupon_survey1

Oh yeah! That's what I've been waiting to hear...

GoVegan 09-15-04 04:15 PM

I know this isn't exactly the place, but is "Bride of Re-Animator" any good? A local store has the Pioneer version for $8 and I was wondering if it's worth picking up.

The Exister 09-16-04 08:59 AM

Got it last night with the Border's coupon (Towson, MD).

Unrelated: If you go tonight, John Waters will be there signing stuff from 6-8PM. I plan on having him sign my copy of William Castle's autobiography "I'm Gonna Scare the Pants Off America!" (He wrote an intro to the book).
