Double Indemnity update

My order was cancelled and it suddenly went missing from Amazon's site.
Odd, to say the least. I guess that means it's never coming.

Welcome to the forum. It's always best to use the Search function before starting a new thread:

Heh, "update". I thought (naively) that we'd get a new date or something...

So did I. I'm pissed, MOST MISLEADING THREAD TITLE EVER!!!!!!

ctyankee 07-14-04 10:40 PM

It gets even worse, this guy already posted to another thread that was created yesterday, specific to Double Indemnity's status. Someone even told him that Amazon changed their status ... yesterday.

Hey Natevines:

Do you work for Universal?

unclehulot 07-15-04 12:55 AM

yeah, and I'll tell you another one, Fox's "Laura" has been delayed..... and where is that Harold Lloyd collection I've been hearing about since I was knee high to a grasshopper??

dom56 07-15-04 09:44 AM

Laura is being delayed because Fox is making it part of their film noir line. No released date have been announced yet, but it is coming.

Ringo20000 10-21-04 09:12 PM

Is there any new news on this release? I have been wanting to pick it up for over a year since I first saw it in my film class but it was out of print and the rerelease keeps getting delayed.

Ginwen 10-21-04 09:46 PM

Worst use of search to revive an old post ever! ;)

At least maybe we can get a ? in the title now, since it's been misleading twice.

darkside 10-21-04 10:11 PM

Still holding on to my old Image copy.

Hopefully Universal will get around to doing a new version of this and MST3K the Movie someday.

Ringo20000 10-21-04 11:04 PM

Yeah I know this had a misleading title, but it was the most reason post on the topic, a question mark really needs to be in the title.

unclehulot 10-21-04 11:06 PM

change the thread title to Same old siht please!

CarlitoBrown 10-22-04 12:14 AM

I hear this is available for DL on

<i>Mod note: I know it's an older movie but is it really in the public domain? Links/discussions about bootlegging/pirating are not allowed here. If this is a PD movie please substantiate the claim and we can replace the link.

thanks

</i>

That might help you cope for now.

Walter Neff 10-22-04 10:40 AM

I'm 99 percent sure "Double Indemnity" is not in the public domain. Universal owns the rights.

Kerborus 01-25-05 10:00 PM

Where did this movie go???? Has anyone heard ANY updates at all?

bboisvert 01-25-05 11:47 PM

UPDATE: It's highly anticipated. And it's owned by Universal. Therefore, it'll come up when hell freezes over.

Grrrrrrr... Seriously, there's been no news since the announced DVD was canceled.

fliggil 01-25-05 11:53 PM

Although far from a perfect release, I'm content with my Image release for now, though I certainly wouldnt mind someone like Criterion picking this one up.

Cameron 01-26-05 12:11 AM

not going to get a criterion...It will hit this year, and hopefully Universal will treat it right.

natevines 01-26-05 06:07 AM

No!!
While I do love this movie, and cannot wait for a new DVD, this was my newb thread :(

Cameron 01-26-05 12:13 PM

you know if you really didn't like it you could delete the thread....or you could just edit the first post to make yourself look less noobed.

let it stand, its a good place to get the info when it come available...and it seems to be found in the search engine well, which is a problem many seem to face

littlefuzzy 01-26-05 09:43 PM

Dangit, we need a mod to change the title, like (No News Yet.)

Sonny 01-26-05 10:00 PM

Digital Bits has announced a March 28th date for the Universal release of Double Indemnity.

Unless you have some sort of inside info, I don't think that can be said definitively. Criterion & Universal have had a long and fruitful working relationship in the past. Double Indemnity is--as far as I'm concerned--the seminal film noir, and is deserving of a deluxe 2-disc special edition, but Universal has done so little with its back catalogue (except for the Universal Monsters series, its Hitchcock holdings, and a few others) that I doubt they can do it justice. (They were clueless enough to announce a cheap, barebones release before they changed their mind.)

I'm still hopeful that it's been licensed to Criterion, but I agree it's a long shot.

You'll need to post the link---I don't find it listed on their site (and it is still listed as "TBD" in Barrie Maxwell's latest update). Besides, March 28th is a Monday.

fliggil 01-26-05 10:17 PM

I'm tempted to unload my Image disc as they're getting anywhere from $30 to $40 on eBay, definately will if a Criterion is announced.
