In answer to your first question - all of the shelf names were merely done in PhotoShop. I would never write on the shelves, things are too dynamic - always changing.

The Samurai I, II and III trilogy on the bottom shelf - I did those titles on the picture only - in PhotoShop, the original Criterion titles did not show up well enough to be readable.

Thanks for your interest

I am not much of a J.Lo fan but when my wife and I saw that pic we were like "wow!" The same for the one of Al Pacino in Carlito's Way.

We bought them from small art gallery booth here in Houston. He has SO MANY great scenes from movies that he draws and then he reproduces them. He had his originals there and then had the reproducted ones side by side.....you can BARELY tell the difference. I'll get his email and website(if he has one).

Wow impressive work as they look real

and as for writing on your shelves. I just thought there was a chance you may have done it for real somehow but yes its very impractical thats for sure with an expanding collection.

I see a couple of you guys have the Ikea Bennos, I'm considering getting a few of them myself.

How sturdy are they? Do you fellas recommend them, or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks.

carr your posters are fucking killer. What cam you use to take those pics? They (especially the last) look almost-SLR in quality.

Also, what are you using to hang the posters? Looks like some sort of sleeves?

I am very pleased with my Bennos. Only make sure that they are strapped to the wall.

Thanks. I shot these with my Canon Digital Rebel and a EF 17-40mm f/4 lens so I am glad I was able to achieve almost-SLR quality with this SLR camera and expensive lens. I will prolly upgrade the body in three or four years depending what comes around. I am very happy with it though for now

I dry mounted the posters at this do it yourself workshop. They kind of rely on people buying supplies there as they charge very little for using there equipment. So I showed up to the place with my own foam core and dry mount tissue and like 30 posters. I had never dry mounted before either so the people there helped me. I was there for a good amount of time and after I was done they only charged me $4. So I felt bad and bought these lil plastic hanger things for all the posters. They are kinda dumb though and I dont recomend them. You are better off using T-Pins and puting 4 around the outside of the poster. The T-Pins are much less noticable.

btw I dont care about the $$$ value of my posters thats why I chose to dry mount.

Just to nitpick, 17mm < 40mm. . . . But they do seem sharper, this is a zoom lens you have? Short focal lengths certainly aren't the best there, I believe, what with all the optics.
