Columbia House? I guess if they make it available as an enrollment option so I don't have to stick around long, that's OK. But, that's just too weird.

This sucks! I was looking forward to this released as a set. If it is going to be CH tv greats only, I might get the first one for 3.95, and maybe the others if they become avilable in the regular club, but I won't pay $25 for discs 2, 3, & 4?!?!
Come on Paramount. Do this right.

Before we panic, why dont we wait until an official announcment.
I dont think it'll happen that way. See, to Paramount Star Trek=$$$. To limit the market to a handful of folks savvy enough to find out about it through channels like that means >$$$. Discs on the shelves of Walmart means

The interview does mention there's a chance it will end up in stores.
From Columbia House?
Yeah.
So is this going to be only for subscription?
I have no idea. I'm sure that Columbia House will make it available to the stores.
Well, Columbia House doesn't put anything in stores, but a number of things Paramount has put out on DVD in-stores started at Columbia House first. I Love Lucy, for example.
Then that's probably where it's started. I'm sure that this is going to end up in stores. It's too big a property for it not to. I mean, Paramount has to know that The Animated Series will sell. "Oh, look! Here's a whole area of Star Trek we haven't merchandised yet!"
Yeah.

I haven't seen the animated show in a long time, but I remember it had sophisticated writing for a Saturday morning cartoon and the typically crude Filmation animation. If the prints are cleaned up, I'd pick up a boxed set in a heartbeat!

1. I'm sure that Columbia House will make it available to the stores.
2. I'm willing to bet that the show will show up as a box set from Paramount. They're not about to license out any segment of their cash cow.
2. Perhaps you're both right. Paramount has licenced stuff to Columbia House ahead of selling it themselves in stores (Voyager and Deep Space Nine on VHS, for instance), so perhaps it's going to be available for Columbia House only for awhile, and later, in stores. I don't know if Paramount does this to gauge interest or what, but it is possible that it might be a Columbia House "Collector's Edition" first, then a mass-market boxset later.
