eternal sunshine???

Anybody hear anything yet on a release date?

I'm getting a little antsy...Wasn't it released at least three months ago or so??

Thanks

Seantn 05-28-04 06:17 AM

It was released 2 months ago. I'd say the announcement will be sometime in June.

Simpson Purist 05-28-04 07:29 AM

I'm hoping for an SE release of this film along the lines of Being John Malkovich.

steebo777 05-28-04 07:31 AM

Best film of the year IMO. I can't wait for this one

So you want a "SE" that consists of a couple of weird, quirky and utterly worthless "supplements"?

Jonny2k1 06-03-04 09:59 AM

Any announcement of this? I saw a preivew for it last night when I was watching Lost in Translation, and I want it NOW.

Fred C. Dobbs 06-03-04 01:45 PM

Terrific film, 2nd or 3rd best film of the year. According to my Video Business magazine it's coming in September.

cfloyd3 06-03-04 01:52 PM

My favorite film of the year.. can't wait.

asianxcore 06-03-04 01:58 PM

I agree with all of you. This is, for me, without a doubt, the best movie I've seen this year. Simply brilliant.

I kinda wish I could get my memory of it erased so I can go back and see it again for the first time, although I'm sure repeated viewings are also warranted.

One of my favorite films of all time, I know it's too much to say that so soon, but I mean it. Saw it twice in its theatrical run, can't wait for the dvd.

onebyone 06-03-04 09:21 PM

I am getting antsy for news on this too. I guess releases are coming so fast and furious these days I have forgotten to be patient, but I can't help it. I want this dvd now. It is my favorite so far this year by far.

SideShow 06-03-04 10:45 PM

Man, what did you do before DVD when you had to wait over a year for VHS to come out?

diespine 06-04-04 09:38 AM

never bought any video cassetts, but getting back to the subject of the dvd, focus features is the studio that made the movie, anyone know any other movies made by focus so we have an idea of what to expect for quality and extras on the dvd

Lost In Translation is the first to come to mind. FYI, Focus Features is a subsidary of Universal, so take it as you will in terms of A/V quality on the DVD, but LIT was a damn fine release by them in terms of A/V quality.

slowcloud 06-04-04 07:03 PM

Yay for Focus Features! Last year Lost in Translation was my must own DVD and fave film of that year and the same goes for this one! And I only buy like two or three new release films a year, the rest of my collection are older favorites.

Stunna-88 06-04-04 07:09 PM

Focus normally sucks with extra features (21 Grams had absolutely zero special features, and Lost in Translation had very few if any).

The A/V quality is great though.

Zodiac_Speaking 06-04-04 08:24 PM

My third fav of 2004 (as of June 4).

jough 06-06-04 05:24 PM

This one is just behind Kill Bill Volume 2 for me this year. Great film.

Can't wait for the DVD.

Caliking 06-06-04 07:31 PM

i too cant wait for this dvd. awesome movie in my opinion

PopcornTreeCt 06-06-04 07:52 PM

I also can't wait to see what kind of custom covers people are gonna make when this is released. I'm sure the cover art will be less than desirable.

Comfort Eagle 06-06-04 08:26 PM

Cant wait for this one. Favorite movie of the year so far. I hope it at least has a few extras.

jough 06-07-04 01:19 PM

Kaufman's first appearance on TV was on the Charlie Rose Show in support of this film - it'd be a nice extra to have, as would a writer and director commentary.

Barring that - I think there are deleted scenes. At least, there are some scenes that were in the screenplay but not in the film.

Cornelius1047 06-07-04 02:43 PM

As well as at least one scene in the trailer that I don't remember seeing in the movie.

From DVDTimes:

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for 28th September 2004 with a retail price of $29.98. Michel Gondry directs a Charlie Kaufman screenplay with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet headlining a wonderful cast in this offbeat romantic comedy that sees a couple discover what they had only after erasing all memory of their rocky relationship.

Arriving in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions, the full details on this release have yet to be revealed but we do have the audio specifications for you...

• English DD5.1 & DTS 5.1 Surround
• French DD5.1 Surround
• English, French and Spanish subtitles

Expect an update with art and extras soon...

Phuzbox 06-14-04 04:30 PM

Nice to have a release date

jough 06-14-04 05:18 PM

Nice, the week after Star Wars.

ftsoh 06-14-04 06:01 PM

Don't expect a lot of supplement due to the inclusion of DTS tracks and the track record of Focus Feature. Can't say I am not disappointed. I will rent it first and wait for the inevitable price drop to pick it up.

ReduxGuy 06-14-04 06:24 PM

The Widescreen and Fullscreen are separate releases.

So it's only one DTS track on the DVD.

Comfort Eagle 06-14-04 06:34 PM

Even if it ends up being bare bones Ill still pick it up on release day! I really just want the film.

Captain Pike 06-14-04 06:54 PM

Same here. Eternal Sunshine is an excellent film. All I need is a good transfer and a nice audio mix. Extras would be cool but this is one that I won't mind owning bare bones (if that's what it ends up being.)

Cornelius1047 06-14-04 06:58 PM

This is yet another pointless separate full screen release. Lost In Translation and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind just don't strike me as the types of movie your average consumer is gonna want to own. I could understand it for a movie like The Matrix Revolutions or The Lord Of The Rings even, but for this?! It's baffling.

I definitely can't wait to pick it up. September is so far away.

A disappointing cover, I can't say I want a large Jim Carrey face with other heads of the actors.. Well maybe Dunst. Oh well, it is the film that matters and it is wonderful. Thanks for the info.

After Lost in Translation I wasn't expecting a great cover. Can't wait though, barebones or not.

What's ratio have to do with audio tracks? :hscratch:

Look above. Both versions will have TWO DTS tracks: English and French.
