I love all these comments like, "Eddie won't let Delerious get released without editing..." etc.
Didn't everyone say the same thing about Arnold and "Pumping Iron"? That got an Uncut release...

I doubt that "Pumping Iron" was filled with obscenities and off-color, scatological humor.

Besides I don't think Eddie has as much control over the film as Arnold did. And since Eddie hasn't done a film for Paramount since the early '90s I don't know why he would have much of any say over it...

It was recently listed in Video Business magazine as coming out in September. Last week's issue if I'm not mistaken.

i sure hope paramount doesn't use the vhs/laserdisc version of raw. since that aired late last night on cinemax (came on right after conan's infomercial) the print was murky, there were several spots everywhere, and even the original cigarette burns were on the print.

I don't think Delirous will ever be coming out. Unless on Eddie's death bed he changes his mind and decides to release it or one of his kids releases it when he dies. He bought the video rights from Paramount and HBO. I spoke with my parents friend who worked with Eddie and his production company and he said that Eddie doesn't want to look stupid in front of his kids and others for making insensitive jokes about gays and aids etc. Eddie's company has even gone as far as buying back all of the VHS copies of Delirious from all of the major video store chains like Blockbuster, Hollywood and others. Raw on the other hand Eddie has no control over because Paramount owns the rights. I have heard that Eddie is very upset about the Raw release. I don't think that he will ever change his mind about Delirious as long as he is making serious money making family films, or at least until his kids are adults.

Just a heads up. Noticed FYE will be having a deal at their B&M stores, where you can get Delirious and Raw both for $20 - thereby saving $8 as opposed to buying them individually (Delirious = $14.99, and Raw = $12.99). Pretty good deal if you don't already own Raw, and were thinking of picking that up, too.

Good now I can get rid if my other *ahem* copy that I found.....tee hee.
I've heard/watched this routine about 30 times. It's just as funny the 30th time as the 1st.

Anyway, I highly recommend this DVD. I didn't take advantage of the Delirious/Raw deal because I'm not sure I want Raw (and it can be had for $9.99 in some stores), but it was well worth the price I paid. The show itself was pretty funny, but I think I enjoyed the interview more than anything. Even though I was a big REAL PEOPLE fan back in the day, I've come to find Byron Allen quite irritating, with his clueless patronizing and cheap-ass "Entertainment Studios" crap on TV, but the Eddie Murphy interview was great, mostly because of Eddie.
I was a bit surprised that he was more apologetic about his red leather suit than the gay-bashing, which he made no apologies about whatsoever. I mean, I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that ), but the "Hey, it's the '80s and in this decade we really don't like gay people" tone of his show kind of lessens the enjoyment for me -- I had forgotten that the Mr. T/Honeymooners stuff was right at the beginning. Seeing the two outtakes where Eddie rips into people in the audience wasn't something I really needed to see, and it showed just how serious Eddie was about not giving a shit back then. It just showed how carried away he was at the time with his own ego, and the tone of the show was mean enough as it was. Still, it was nice to have the long, in-depth interview with Eddie.
