I use DVDTracker and DVDAficionado. Each has features the other doesn't, and together, they have all I need/want. DVDTracker is $10/year, but worth it, IMO.

DVDTracker lets you enter purchase info (click on the link in my sig line) and has totals at the bottom, that let you see how much you've spent, the total SRP, etc.

DVDAf lets you set up subfolders (again, click on the link in my sig line) so your whole collection doesn't load on one page. The pages load much faster that way.

I love DVD Profiler. I've been using it for 3 years and would never switch to anything else.

DVD Profiler is the best DVD database out there. It is an actual program which can be downloaded so that one can store ones data on one's computer. Both DVD Aficianado and Guzzlefish lack this simple capability as they are online only databases. This means if their database is wiped your collection is gone. I think that makes the case as well as anything.

I like DVDProfiler. Then again, I haven't tried the rest but I'll do so in the summer after I take the CFA Exam

I use DVDSpot (which I love). They are new, but seem to be gaining in popularity very fast. And it's free.

I am hardly phased by guzzlefish's downfall, even though I had my cds there and that's a bitch to lose, because I am currently quite enamoured with dvdspot. There aren't so great with the nonregion one titles yet, but they are very fast with processing submissions so their library is growing very fast. I am having a lot of fun getting set up there.

Oh that looks good. Do you enter them all or did you build your own database? Regardless, that is very impressive and won't go away when one of the developers get bored with it so go you!

DVD Spot, DVD Af and DVD Pro are all great for their own reasons.

Re: An Maccies?

Have you taken a look at IntelliSoftware's Collector Software? It's what I use with my PowerBook and it's really quite good.

I'm thinking about trying out DVD Spot, but I can't figure out a practical way to export UPCs from DVD Profiler. I once created a report with UPCs only, then printed to PDF, then used OCR software to read the digits in electronic format. Not very efficient (or accurate). How did you guys do it?

Hey thanks, I wrote it myself.. it was just a CGI exercise that went wild lol .. The data is mostly copied from imdb. When ever I enter a new disc, I paste in the movie's imdb url and the system goes out and fills in the info I'm looking for. The reviews are 100% mine however

Export to .csv and then import it to DVD Spot.

I just got it and haven't put to much into it. It seems ok, even has links to IMDB. But is there's something better out there I'd rather not get to invested in it.

I use dvdspot.com. I like it because i lend my movies out a lot and it has a great loan out feature...

otherwise i use guzzlefish for the cool stats, but hate the slowness and the fact that some of the movies i have just aren't in the database.

I customize my own DVD list, using Microsoft Word. It's even more convenient for me, because you do not have to go online to excess it.

I used OXD for about 6-8 months. It was a bit quirky (due to the use of MS' ODCB code) Eventually it stopped working on my system. I then switched to ANT MOVIE CATALOG (over 2 years ago) and haven't looked back.
