Wheel's and his Grandma were by far the two worst actors in Canadian Tv history. "derek, I'm sick of your lies..derek derek!"
Watching those two trade lines was like sitting in grade 8 drama class...

I believe you are alluding to Rick, the kid who was briefly friends with Joey and sold him his "rad" leather jacket. Joey witnessed Rick's father hitting him and ended up indirectly responsible for Rick's placement in foster care. The character never returned.

It seems like you people have the same sort of humor that I do in regards to Degrassi.. check out my Degrassi site that contains tons of fun bio and episode guides.
It has pissed off several cast members including Arthur who is now looking like an escaped mental patient.. and Shane who gets no acting work. Both of these guys had their sisters email me and give me crap. its fun!

I think you're right, but who's the actor that played him?

I'm fairly certain he's the one of whom you're thinking. Because of the abuse from dad, he was always sullen; in one episode Caitlin and a friend (I don't remember who) try to cheer him up by accosting him in the hallway with bad jokes.

Oh man...
I just watched a couple of episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation. It was pretty good so I looked up everything I could about the show and why it was the "Next Generation." Anyway, I have a sudden desire to see The Kids of Degrassi Street/Degrassi Junior High/Degrassi High. These shows have characters only a few years younger than myself. Any chance that they are broadcast anywhere? Maybe they'll come to dvd soon.

Hooray!
and here are the details in the aforementioned threadlink:
Degrassi Junior High - Season 1 includes all 13 episodes from the freshman year. The 3-DVD box set also contains DVD-ROM extras such as Trivia, Screensavers and more. Running time is 338 minutes, and the cost is $39.95 SRP. However, you can pre-order from DVDPlanet.com right now for just $27.97 (30% off). The release date for this is Tuesday, February 1st.
If that's more than you want, then each DVD will also be available as separate volumes as well, on the same date, at a list price of $19.95 each (DVDPlanet price is currently $13.97 each; click on the below links to pre-order):
Degrassi Junior High - Season 1, Vol. 1 (104 minutes):
"Kiss Me, Steph": When Steph swaps kisses for votes to become eighth-grade president, she learns some promises are easier given than kept.
"The Big Dance": Voula does the wrong thing for the right reason when she sneaks out to go to the big dance, much to her strict father's dismay.
"The Experiment": Arthur has a plan that will prove Mr. Raditch is biased against Yick, but ends up putting the "fool" in a foolproof idea.
"The Cover-Up": When Joey sees Rick get beaten by his father, Joey must decide whether to report the incident or keep it to himself and see his friend continue suffering.
Degrassi Junior High - Season 1, Vol. 2 (104 minutes):
"The Great Race": It's a battle of the sexes when L.D. challenges the boys' soccer squad to a relay swim meet against the girls' swim team.
"Rumor Has It": Sometimes it's tough to get a straight answer. Kathleen is spreading rumors that Ms. Avery is gay, which ultimately causes Caitlin to question her own sexuality.
"The Best Laid Plans": Stephanie asks Wheels out on a date, but bravado and overheard conversations lead both of them to imply to their friends that they're going to "do something" - though neither is sure that they're ready for it.
"Nothing To Fear": When L.D.'s dad goes into the hospital, L.D. is terrified. Years ago, her mother died while undergoing treatment at a hospital and L.D. is scared that her father may die also.
Degrassi Junior High - Season 1, Vol. 3 (130 minutes):
"What A Nigh"t: Lucy's clothes are always sophisticated - Voula wishes she could dress like her. Voula goes shopping with Lucy, but when she finds out Lucy doesn't pay for her clothes, it's too late - the police have been called.
"Smokescreen": When cynical Rick suddenly takes an interest in the Environmental Action Committee, Caitlin decides he can be redeemed if people will give him the chance.
"It's Late!": When Spike's period is late, she can hardly believe it - she never meant to go as far as she did with Shane. She is torn apart, not knowing what to tell Shane, or worse, her mother.
"Parents' Night": When Wheels' birth father shows up out of the blue, Wheels has to deal with his feelings about his adoptive parents, his birth parents, and who he really is.
"Revolution": To make Wheels jealous, Stephanie, the school president, puts Joey into the vacant post of Sports Rep. But the position is traditionally held by a seventh grader and the entire seventh grade class starts a move to impeach her.
