Not to thread crap, but why are Doris Day titles getting the deluxe treatment while multiple Academy Award-winning true classics like The Lost Weekend are still available only in underwhelming bare bones editions?

Well, in this case "The Lost Weekend" is a Universal title, so it's probably not going to be a part of the Fox Studio Classics line anytime soon for obvious reasons...

However, I believe Fox does own "Cavalcade", the 1933 Best Picture winner, and it still has no DVD release.

That's kind of obvious.

What I'm asking is what makes a film a Studio classic vs. a Cinema Classic. Clearly it's not just a rebranding of the series since they still seem to be doing both.

D'oh! I'd like my rant to be stricken from the record, please. Either way, we need a Lost Weekend SE.

Is Fox planning on adding anymore titles to this series? I have 1 - 40 and the Sunrise bonus film. Is that all she wrote for this line?

I believe so. They have move on to the Cinema Classics banner and that was pretty much it for the Studio classics.

Re: One & Only Fox Studio Classics Thread

So, I've managed to get all of these except for The Rains Came. I've managed to find all the rest in local stores (new and used) but this one.

Looking on eBay, there's a lot of weird entries, with many of them coming from Asian countries and with artwork that looks "off". Is this movie really that valuable that it would be bootlegged?

Did anybody else have trouble finding this one for your collection?
