Paramount to release Fire in the Sky, Finally!!!

Digitalbits...

We've have some cool information from Paramount today. These titles have yet to be announced, but we have confirmed with the studio that they ARE finally in the works for DVD release... D.A.R.Y.L., Explorers and Fire in the Sky. I know a lot of you out there are interested in Fire and Explorers in particular, based on the number of inquiries we get about them. Also, soon to be announced by Paramount are first season DVD box sets of Happy Days, Mork & Mindy and Laverne & Shirley. Look for those Summer 2004. Better still, we've been told to expect Star Trek: The Original Series - Season One to arrive on DVD in the 3rd Quarter of this year

Hell yeah! I cant wait to own it. I hope its an SE but I wont keep my hopes up. I still find this one of the BEST alien abduction films out there. Anyone else in on this one?

PrometheusUFO 03-09-04 01:47 AM

Cool! I've been waiting for this release since I got my first DVD player. :)

Kicker_of_Elves 03-09-04 09:45 AM

Great news!

clappj 03-09-04 10:23 AM

They could probably come up with some really cool special features for "Fire"!

Oh wait, it's Paramount... ;)

Dr. DVD 03-09-04 10:35 AM

"Fire" is a movie that needs some additional viewings before you truly appreciate it. I remember being somewhat bored when I saw it in the theater until they found D.B. Sweeney, then it began to pick up rather quickly. The spaceship sequence really was frightening to watch and almost a mini-movie in and of itself.
Speaking of which, I heard that they actually had a different director and crew work on the spaceship sequence than the rest of the film, which I would have no problem believing. Here's hoping they address it on the DVD!

Oh wait, Paramount! That means overpriced with hardly any extras, silly me! ;)

Rammsteinfan 03-09-04 10:44 AM

I hope it has at least some extras. With the thousands of UFO docs out there, they could at least get 1 or 2 of them on there and maybe interviews with the real people who lived through it. Give me commentaries, documentaries, Anamorphic WS, and anything else you can throw on there.

jmj713 03-09-04 11:56 AM

This HAS to have a commentary.

Damage 03-09-04 12:51 PM

Great news! Honestly didn't expect Fire in the Sky to ever be released on DVD, but I guess anything truly is possible. Those final twenty minutes scared the bejeebers out of me!

And the note about Star Trek: The Original Series just sounds sweeter every time I read it...

BuddyRevell 03-09-04 12:54 PM

EXPLORERS................SWEEEEEETT!!!!!!!! I was just watching my VHS copy a few days ago. FINALLY!!!!!!

Rammsteinfan 03-24-04 10:03 PM

Fire in the Sky is on Sci Fi starting now in case anyone wants to see it again. Awesome alien film.

Mountain Biker 03-24-04 10:10 PM

Thanks for bumping this thread man!

Excellent news regarding Fire in the Sky, Explorers, D.A.R.Y.L., and Star Trek!

onebyone 03-25-04 04:58 AM

Fire in the Sky? This is wonderful news. I really like that movie and will buy it for sure. I thought I would never get it, so there goes another off my want but don't have list.

Bill Geiger 03-25-04 07:20 AM

jmj713 03-25-04 08:54 AM

Huh I thought a date was finally announced...

Rammsteinfan 03-25-04 11:00 AM

Is there a date now? I havent heard anything new since early March...

Fok 03-25-04 11:24 AM

Sweet, looks like a good summer for DVD releases!

WillyShatsWig 08-02-04 08:14 AM

Paramount now have full details for Fire In The Sky, and it will be a bare-bones release:

Paramount will be releasing Robert Lieberman's sci-fi abduction 'true story' Fire In The Sky on October 19th. The movie will boast an anamorphic widescreen transfer and DD5.1 English audio, as well as English and French Dolby 2.0 Surround.

This will be a bare bones budget release, with no extra features.

I am still going to be picking this up, but I am sad that there are on extras. I would say hold out for the SE, but it took so long for this to get released at all, this is probably the best we are going to get for awhile.

steebo777 08-02-04 11:31 AM

Well... bummer of news, but I'm still buying it :)

bareva 08-02-04 01:21 PM

Fire in the sky----great news--i've been waiting for this one for a very long time. Great!!!!

BlackBeauty92 08-02-04 05:45 PM

darn... barebones... probably skip this & spend on something else (way too many on "must buy list")

PrometheusUFO 08-02-04 07:02 PM

The lack of extras are a disappointment. But I've been waiting for this release since I bought my player, so I'll pick it up anyway.

Also, I sorta dislike that site for using quotation marks around 'true story'. Grr...

Sunday Morning 08-02-04 08:01 PM

'tis a pity paramount doesn't care enough about this smaller titles. at least a friggin' trailer would have been nice.

Mountain Biker 08-02-04 11:14 PM

Nice to see they used the original poster art

superdeluxe 08-03-04 12:23 AM

Yay!

Will you please then go back on ebay and buy the laserdisc's of "Harry And The Hendersons" and "Howard The Duck" so whoever can announce those titles next week, that would be great...

QuikSilver 08-03-04 07:13 PM

This totally sucks that there is no extras!!

Defiant1 08-03-04 10:49 PM

It's Paramount, what do you expect? When the highest grossing movie of all time gets a barebones release, you can't hope for much with their catalogue titles.
