Robot Jox on DVD? (Oct release rumor)

Seems that Robot Jox never got released on DVD. Does anyone know why? This was one of my all time favorite guilty pleasure movies from 1990. Very campy and corney but the end result was so funny. Great movie for its time.

I'd love this on DVD. Me and a friend were just talking about this the other day.

Stuart Gordon doesn't get much love on DVD. From Beyond, Dolls and Daughter of Darkness are also unreleased, plus The Pit & the Pendulum is out of print. I converted my tapes to DVD-R -- tired of waiting...

Wasn't that a Full Moon film? I know alot of the Full Moon movies can't be rleased on DVD for some legal reason.

I think there was some sort of sequel but the name escapes me.
I remember seeing this on video in early days, the funniest scene in it was some sort of robot tech helping the pilot into his robot saying "good luck guvner" in a cockney accent, just trying to work out how he got there?

Robot Wars isn't much of a sequel. All different people and very little giant robot goodness.

There was a japanese laserdisc release for Robot Jox, and an American VHS release, but I've never seen or heard of a DVD.

I'd be all over this if it hits DVD. One of the very few VHS I still have.

Haven't thought of this movie in a long time. Count me in if it's ever released (along with monster squad!).

Oh, and according to THIS GUY it's already out on DVD. Uh, right. Not a bad photoshop cover though.

According to http://www.dvddrive-in.com/, Robot Jox will arrive on DVD in October, as part of Sony's wave of horror/thrillers before Halloween.

Didn't Full Moon run out of money in a really bad way? They had a great run with the Trancers line and Robot Jox (and they promised Robot Jox 2!). But then the studio fell off the earth.

I actually saw this over the weekend. I hadn't seen it in at least 10 years. It IS actually a pretty good flick for a Saturday afternoon. My friend has been backing up all of his laserdiscs to dvd (he's tired of breaking his laserdisc player out of his "retirement" closet whenever he wants to see a flick he doesn't have on DVD yet) and he had just finished this one (no, I don't have nor will I receive a copy). Interestingly, it has a MGM logo on it.

Of all the movies to bring me out of temporary posting retirement, I would never have guessed that it would be Robot Jox.

Looks like it's pretty official:

Click on the image for a full-sized version.

DeepDiscountDVD - $9.12

DVDPlanet - $10.47

DVDEmpire - $10.46

Amazon - $13.45

All show a release date of Oct 4th and no special features. DDD shows the aspect ratio as 1:1.33, but DVDPlanet and Amazon both show widescreen (DVDEmpire doesn't have any ratio data).

I was just thinking about this movie the other day for the first time in MANY years . . . very strange to see it pop up like this. Can't wait until release day!

Edit: Added in the cover art.

I always did like this one - it's not a great movie, but it's entertaining. I'll definitely pick it up.

HBO/Cinemax have been showing this in HD for over a year now. Decent transfer.
