Ollivier Assayas DEMONLOVER
DEMONLOVER which was screened at Cannes in 2002 and generated a bit of controversy (though clearly not to the extent that Irreversible did) is to be released in R1 (finally!!)
***
From PalmPictures:
Director: Olivier Assayas
Primary Cast: Chloe Sevigny
Primary Cast: Connie Nielsen
Primary Cast: Charles Berling
Primary Cast: Gina Gershon

DEMONLOVER is Olivier Assayas's (IRMA VEP, LES DESTINEES) breathtaking vision of our modern global world. On the surface, the film follows Diane (Connie Nielsen), a corporate mole who in trying to undermine a deal between two multinational conglomerates uncovers a link between one of the companies and an interactive torture Web site known as "The Hellfire Club." However, she is challenged every step of the way by her amoral colleague (Charles Berling), an antagonistic and mysterious assistant (Chloe Sevigny) and an outspoken, pot-smoking American executive (Gina Gershon). Brilliantly shot by Denis Lenoir and featuring an original soundtrack by Sonic Youth, the film captures a culture spiraling out of control in which reality is posited as a video game and where every twist escalates the film to a new level.
A thought-provoking, radical essay on the matrix of art, life and virtual reality which deliberately toys with narrative conventions, DEMONLOVER will open in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, September 19th followed by a national release.
***
The DVD is to be released on March 21 but so far no word whether or not we'll be getting the Festival cut or the uncut version.
Also, I had thread about this awhile ago and it was removed to the Movie section so since the cover work is now available I decided to move back to the Talk section.

O, thank you for posting this news!!
I feel much better now as I was a bit nervous about the uncut status since there are a few scenes one has to see to believe
PS
Sure go ahead and post them for the rest of the forum members. Thank you!!

I'll post them in a couple of hours. I don't have the DVD on me and I'm getting ready to walk out the door. Maybe someone else will before I do... Sorry!

Have they released the date for the unrated version? I know that the rated R version comes out in March, but does the unrated one come out the same day? I've heard we wont get the unrated version til June. Anyone can confirm this info?
Edit: Nevermind, I looked it up on Amazon.com and it confirms the release date for the unrated version on June 8th. My bad.

I wasn't crazy about the film. After seeing the trailer last year I was expecting something much more involving. Maybe if the movie had started 15 minutes before the end and continued from there, they would have had something. Otherwise I found most of it sleep inducing. Maybe the new cut will improve things.
