Expecting Any Double-Dipping Titles?
to me, the term "double-dipping" is not always a bad thing....
with new transfer improvements, added small few extras, i'm feeling alright for double-dipping my titles... not always, but mostly ok with me (depending on the "added value")
like already announced titles that will be available in 2004, i'm expecting:
Top Gun: SE
The Untouchables: SE
The Ten Commandments: SE (3-disc)
DareDevil: Director's cut
Dawn of the Dead (if it ever comes out... damn you anchor bay)
Zombie 2 (again, if it ever comes out)
The Running Man: UE
Total Recall: UE
but how about others that might deserve new treatment? like:
Universal soldiers: ultimate edition maybe?
the Punisher (dolph lungren's): SE (hey, might be cool though)
Braveheart: SE
The THING (John carpenter's)
so, what do you think?
mods: sorry if this topic has been covered before... you can closed it or merge it if you want to
again, thanx

I am expecting to double dip on True Lies eventually. And of course, The Matrix series, we all know they are going to release a box set. Is there ever a time they don't? Also, Daredevil: Director's Cut and Top Gun: Special Edition.

This is my philosophy with DVDs: I don't buy barebones DVDs. I don't see the point in it. Either a SE or EE or the similar will be released (or not - and I won't buy it). I need more than just the movie. But that's just me, YMMV.

Even though it isn't even out yet.. Underworld. I'm sure 6 months from now there will be a Superbit version.
And not that I would touch it with a 10 foot pole, I think Bad Boys 2 Superbit is a safe bet.

I've triple dipped a few times....so being a double-dipper is pretty easy for me
. I'll multiple dip on any title I feel I need to...for whatever reason is feeding my desire at the time. buying again for improved picture, sound or essential extras is a no-brainer...and there are too many titles in my collection to list that could recieve this treatment.
priority D-dipped titles would be Diner, Forbidden Planet(coming), Bad Lieutenant, Papillon, and Flash Gordon. those come to mind right away.

also, don't forget the officially-announced The Running Man: Ultimate Edition
i'm surprise that Artisan doesn't re-re-release their other "cool" action titles like Universal Soldier... or maybe Basic Instinct (again)?
their Stargate: UE was great! so were their Reservoir Dogs, Young Guns... haven't seen their T2: Extreme, so can't really say anything about it

Stargate:UE is a good disc, but man the packaging is hurting my eyes. Hideous. They need to quadruple dip on that one just to change the package.
I'd go for some Braveheart, just to get the movie alone on one disc for the bit rate. I mean it is a 3 hour movie and they cram a commentary, and extras all on one disc. The picture looks decent, but could look so much better.

from everything that i've heard ear-marked for release so far in 04, the only one i will be buying, while already owning a previous version, will be The Searchers SE.
Possibly Ten Commandments SE also, if the transfer is a clear improvment, but i still havent even opened up the previous version in the 3 yrs i've had it.
everything else i am interested in, i 've already sold off the previous version, so while its still technically DD'ing, it s more like a slight cost upgrade.

Wow, old thread
But I'm hoping that a lot of these warner snappers get released on their 2-disc line. At least I know for a fact that Shawshank Redemption will, so I'll definitely be picking that up.
