But can you tell the difference in the packaging, too? I've read that the back cover looks somewhat different... (like the grid around techn. specs looks different or something)
Right, that's exactly what I was talking about - the red grid on the package.
BUT there's a problem - I can't see the back cover when ordering in a web-store. And I can't go to U.S. store to check if the grid is red or not - I don't live in U.S.
And if I take the risk and order the disk in Internet (I'd tru Digitaleyes), and get the old "defective" version then I won't be able to replace it (Columbia House does not send replacements outside U.S. - they suggested me to buy the Region 2 disc in "my region" - how smart, huhh?).

If you can...get the JP DTS disc with the RED Grid around the Technical Specs at the bottom of the back cover...this indicates the corrected DTS version...

I just picked up JP-DTS, The Lost World DTS, and JPIII (DTS & DD) from best buy last week on a 3-$20 deal. The JP is the corrected version. I used a Madden coupon to make it $16. Sweet.

Wasn't Jurassic Park the first DTS movie in theaters? So how could a DD version be the correct version anyway?

You keep spewing this "it's a fact" and "it is known to be correct according to the ORIGINAL theatrical track" but where is this supposed fact/proof coming from.
I stood in the DVCC facility in Los Angeles just months after the first release of JP and asked them about that disc. They were reticent to offer details, but I was able to determine that both the DD and DTS tracks were sourced from the same audio master. This was said to be essentially the same as the theatrical mix with only the minor changes required for near field environments (home theater).
What Vince Maskeeper (and others) tried to tell people back then was, and is, true. The real truth of the matter is the DTS track on the first presing of this disc was completely unaltered and the weakness of the LFE track is a result of the DTS encoder not producing flat response in the LFE track (also a fact). The DD sounded stronger because the DTS track had a roll-off of bass frequencies betweem 50 and 100 Hz.
BTW, the disc was "fixed" not because of consumer outcry, but at the behest of DTS themselves through Amblin (who is about the only people that could get Universal to do such a thing). The way the disc was "fixed" was the disc was simply reauthored with the DTS track sourced from the master created for the DTS laserdisc several years before. A mix that was created specifically for laserdisc at the time and not truly representative of the theatrical mix.
Whether one is better than the other is not the point, or at least it shouldn't be. "Better" is purely subjective in this context anyway. The point is, the first disc represents the original intent of the filmmakers (the DD does) and the second pressing represents the intent of DTS. It should also be noted that when the disc was reauthored, someone made the decision to use the original mix for the DD track and used the LD mix only for the DTS track. Hmmmm....
