Gleaming The Cube?

Anyone know if they plan to re-release this title in the future? I refuse to pay the throat choking prices they have listed on ebay and other websites.

Thanks

There will always eventually be a re-release of OOP titles I think. There are not any concrete plans, but I am sure this movie will see the light of day again, it all depends on how long you can wait for it to come out.

It's funny that you mention this dvd, a friend of mine just found a copy at a pawn shop for $4. She didn't even know it was rare or anything. She still won't sell it to me though.

The original release was put out by Artisan through Pioneer, although it's a FOX film. Hopefully the rights have gone back to FOX and and they'll release it.

The problem with the version out there is that it's in Full Frame...

Since this movie has already had three titles (A Brother's Justice, Skate or Die), why not give it a fourth title for a DVD rerelease: Sk8r Boi?

I'd love a re-release of this, a childhood gem!

Not to practice necromancy here... but any chance in hell in ever seeing this? What's the holdup?

Also does Gleaming the Cube mean something "bad"? A friend of mine said he saw it on tv once and they had changed the name.

Haven't heard anything about it, but I believe Artisan got bought by someone else, so maybe they'll repackage and release it. Luckily I picked it up when it first came out as it's one of my 80's guilty pleasures and was shocked it even came out on DVD back then.

With Lion's Gate finally exhuming Monster Squad, perhaps there is some hope for this 80's niche film.

Yeah, it's possible. They've been repackaging their newly acquired catalog (though apparently keeping the exact same disc content (e.g. Freeway), so keep your fingers crossed.

This was one of my favorites as a skateboarding kid. I hope someone gives it a proper release anamorphically with a 5.1 track for some surround sound shredding.

I'd also love to see this in a proper release. I'm sure they could get some pretty cool extras on this movie as well.

Another year, another post...

I've all but given up hope, but really now, what's the deal? Is their a rights issue? Why would Lion's Gate sit on this? Its no blockbuster, but they must know that their is a guaranteed buying base for 80s flicks like this.

With a high def transfer airing on cable to boot. Perhaps they have been waiting for a big Christain Slater theatrical tie-in...
