This sounds too good to be true. Can anyone confirm this or point out a source, or is it just a rumor at this point?

The poster who posted this thread said it was confrimed with Comedy Central themselves.

The bucket of truth says that the INFO came in the official Comedy Central newsletter
sorry I deleted mine or I'd show ya |
Cool! I always liked this one, it was Monty-Python type surreal without being totally stupid or disgusting, but CC always jacked around the schedule. I also like how the subplots unite at the end.
Thanks Splangy! |
So has anyone seen this in any B&Ms or can it only be found online?
|
I hold it in my hot little hands.. picked it up at BB this afternoon..
BEWARE it may be mis-shelved... supposed to be in TV.. was over in COMEDY |
Aww crud, I ordered it from Comedy Central last week cuz I couldn't find it listed on dvd price searched and assumed it was an exclusive. Oh well, hopefully it'll show up one day.

Yeah, I don't know why DVD Price Search didn't list this title, but DDD has it for $16.20, which is a pretty sweet deal. I ordered it last week, but since it was released today I won't have it in my hands for another ten days or so.
|
Picked mine up this afternoon in a local CD store chain. BB had 2 copies allegedly sold since I could not find them in any section of the DVDs. Nice looking set, very similar to the Strangers With Candy release.
|
So, any news on when/if the DVDs for seasons 2 & 3 come out? I figure Comedy Central would want to capitalize on Amy Poehler's prominence on Weekend Update. Plus, the show's too damn funny to stay in the vaults.
|
Agreed. While I enjoyed S1, I got into the show in S2/s3, and some of my 'favorite' sketches were in those seasons. I liked the Supercool and Pro Thunderball threads better than the Titte's.
Amy's getting big, so CC should try to capitalize on that, like you said. While I liked the commentaries [especially the 'live' ones, that's a neat concept], I wouldn't want them to hold up release for that. Anyone know how well S1 sold? |
No idea how well S1 sold, but I bought four copies of it (1 for me, three as gifts to friends who hadn't seen it before but are now converts) - and all four of us would buy season 2.
Hint hint. I can't believe they're up to Season 3 of friggin' Strangers with Candy already but UCB gets the snub. WTF, CC? |
Just to revive the thread once more, anyone have any news on further seasons of UCB being released? I just noticed it's now been more than a year since the first one came out. Does that mean they stopped after Season 1?
|
Season One did not sell that well. While I would love for the remaining seasons to come out, I think that they probably will not.
|
Good news. Amy Poehler was on Kimmel on Monday and said that season two is on the way.

I had written any further releases off years ago! |
According to TVshowsonDVD.com and the UCB website, there was a live cast commentary/Q&A in CA on 3/31
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7079 http://www.ucbtheatre.com/schedule/s...d=&showid=1396 the implication being DVDs are being created. |
|
Better late than never.
|
But better never late
|
Wow. Totaly unexpected but great news. I hope it sells for as cheap as Season 1.
|
I'd like to blame Comedy Central for this and I'm sure they had a part in the delay but you have to wonder if a little bit of initiative on the part of UCB woulda helped get this out sooner.
They only recently held the live show for the DVD release a few weeks ago. The UCB theater still exists as a successful entity and the members from the TV series still perform regularly. I personally think that Comedy Central would have been much more likely to take a chance on an earlier season 2 release if the UCB members did their live commentary taping on their own and basically said "here you go, we did our part and it's ready for whenever you wanna release it". Hopefully season 3 will arrive quickly so the entire series will be available. It would be nice if they sold well but all I care about is just completing the series on DVD. I don't understand why Comedy Central doesn't rerun the series. Sure, there are only 30 episodes but that's the exact same amount as "Mr. Show" and that's been in reruns on Comedy Central and TBS and that's a show that's a full 30 minutes with lots of stuff that needs to be edited for basic cable whereas UCB is "basic cable acceptable". Seriously, though, I just hope that whatever caused the huge gap between seasons doesn't pop up again because I don't wanna wait until 2011 to get season 3. |

Release date confirmed for 7/31. Cover art has also been released now. |
Last time I went to NY I caught a couple of shows at the UCB (Two Square and Hot Sauce). Though none of the 'tv stars' were there, both improvs were hilarious and quite well priced.
Looking forward to S2, and given the "re-promotion" of S1, I'm glad I got it with that Best Buy coupon code. |
