UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD - Spring 2004
One of the most incredible science fiction epics of all time comes to DVD in 2004 in a newly restored version from director Wim Wenders (WINGS OF DESIRE, THE BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB). Presented here in a multi-disc set, this director's cut runs well over 4 hours and will contain new supplementary features provided by the director. Closed Captioned For The Hearing Impaired.

Thread crapping should be banned.
I don't see why people bother reading a thread, only to make a posting saying that its a waste of space. Why even bother reading the thread in the first place?
I think it will be a much better film at 280 minutes than it was at 158 - and at 158 minutes it was still a pretty good film.

Caught part (all?) of this on HBO many years ago.
At the time, I found it plodding, smug, and dull, but there was something intangible about it that sort of fascinated me. And ten years on, I still find myself recalling images and scenes from this movie that I didn't really seem to like.
So I might have to pick it up. Maybe I'll come around on it.

An ex-girlfriend of mine when I was in college (which would be about 5 years ago now) loved this film, and made me watch with her one evening. I was bored to tears by it. Since then, however, I have gained an appreciation for other films that Wenders has done, so I'll be very willing to check this disc out.

Maybe that's old news, but it's the first I'd heard of it. Anybody have any more info on the Spring 2004 release?

From: You have moved into a dark place. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
It says "multi-disc set" - does that mean more than 2?
That's awesome. It's funny - I've only seen this once, a long time ago, on a VHS rental - but certain scenes have stuck with me all of this time - I guess it's been about ten years since I've seen it.
I'll DEFINITELY be picking this up.
Spring is almost here!

I do enjoy Wim Wenders' films. I remember when Until the End of the World came out in theaters (in addition to the great CD release of the soundtrack). I skipped its theatrical release because it wasn't the director's cut and have yet to watch it at all. When I heard the film was not the definitive director's cut, I had flashbacks of how over-compromised Dune was for David Lynch because it was cut back from four hours, beyond his control, as was the case with Until the End of the World. Now, I will finally see this film this spring...

The set was announced long before Anchor Bay was having trouble and was sold (or is being sold). There has been no announcement or news about it since. Even on Wim's own website.
It is one of my most eagerly awaited titles so I can't wait. I have the half hour longer Japanese laserdisc and some of the scenes added are truly stunning. Makes a huge difference. Especially in the San Francisco segment.

From: I have always been here.
This film has the 'BEST' soundtrack. I always liked this movie but I also like 'Wings of Desire'. Some people can't handle the lack of action but I find visuals and good music are what I require most.

I was also wondering about the status of this release. Considering there's been no word on this recently and Spring is just around the corner, I've got a bad feeling this won't be coming out soon. Sure hope I'm wrong because it's one of my most anticipated releases this year.

big time!
