Any word on the following 80's cartoons?...

M.A.S.K???
Heathcliff???
The Groovey Ghoulies???
Ant and the Ardvark???
Popeye???

btribble 06-04-03 03:48 AM

Eew, you want the 80's version of Popeye? =p

Personally, I'd like to see:

Kidd Video (was I the only one that watched this as a kid?)
Alf (the cartoon)
Captain Power (not a cartoon, actually, but what the heck)

elias 06-04-03 09:33 AM

Actually, I think you were the only one that watched Kidd Video! Yikes.

There were a lot of bad 80's cartoons, but if I had to watch any I'd pick:

Dungeons and Dragons
Godzilla (maybe)
Shazam!
Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour
Plastic Man Comedy-Adventure Hour (I think that's the name?)
Super Friends
Challenge of the Super Friends
Super Powers Team
Mighty Max (which might be the 90's)

I'm not sure I'd actually buy any of these on dvd, but I'd watch them again if they re-ran on Cartoon Network.

I wish they would put these 80's cartoons on dvd...

the Smurfs
Muppet Babies
Alvin and the Chipmunks
Pee Wee's Playhouse
Galaxy High
He-man
She-ra
the Snorks
and the Get along gang

Who can anyone forget the following 80's cartoons:

Spiderman (The old version.. I think it was the 80's.. maybe 70's?)
The Smurfs
He-Man
She-Ra
Tom and Jerry (Region 1, Uncut Edition)
Dungeons and Dragons

.. and so far no word on any of these being released soon.

Geofferson 06-04-03 11:08 AM

She-Ra
The Snorks
The Ghostbusters (the first one - I think it was late 80s)
James Bond Jr.
Heathcliff
Muppett Babies

I want Conan the Adventurer on DVD. Not sure if it was 80's or early 90's though.

That is something I wouldn't mind seeing as well, so rare for an American cartoon to have a beginning and an end. Conan was 90's if I remember correctly.

I want Astroboy (80s version), preferably with English subs. I'm not sure if it's available or not, though I do know there's a spanking new Astroboy series just out in Japan!

I would give anything for Muppet Babies sets!

Er, or at least until I got the first one and realized that my tastes were rather different when I was eight or so. Hey, I can still dream, right? :)

ProKaZZ 06-05-03 04:41 AM

All I can say is they gotta release Rubix Cube, Mighty Orbots, and Pac-Man...and maybe Lazer Tag.
Wow gotta love those obscure 80's Cartoons.

RaMMaR 06-05-03 05:08 AM

Ralph Bakshi's The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, Dungeons and Dragons, and The Real Ghostbusters are the ones i'd want in my DVD collection.

BrunnenMatt 06-05-03 06:47 AM

Don't know about your titles.

Not sure if it's an 80's, but I grew up on "The Lost City Of Gold " cartoon in Australia, and it would be neat to see this come out.

edytwinky 06-05-03 06:52 AM

Pac-Man cartoon! Great choice

TheAllPurposeNothing 06-05-03 10:17 AM

Only three Saturday morning shows from the 80's worth buying:

Pee-Wee's Playhouse
The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse
The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley (love the episode where Ed goes searching for his runaway goldfish, plus every episode has an appearance from Count Floyd!)

Also have a soft spot for early episodes of Beakman's World and for some strange reason, the Little Shop of Horrors and Beetlejuice cartoons. But I probably wouldn't buy them.
