Savannah Smiles DVD....I can't find it anywhere??

I wanted to know if anyone here has this movie. I thought it would be a great family movie to add to my collection but I can't find it anywhere. I did a google search and I found a link to buy it HERE but the price is $139! Am I missing something here?? Thanks for any input

You're missing the fact that it went out-of-print about 6 months ago.

You're only hope is eBay where prices can vary wildly. But even then, $50 is the best you will do...

Wow. I had no idea that it had gone out of print. It's strange because I would shop around at Best Buy, Circuit City, and even Fry's and I could never find it.

My wife has never seen it, and I personally remember seeing it when I was a kid and I thought it'd be great to watch it again. Oh well, so much for wishful thinking, huh Thanks for the info.

Does anyone own the disk? How well does the transfer hold up?

I saw this when I was like 15 and wept like a baby. And I never cry about anything. I didn't know what was happening to me. I well up just thinking about that ending.

I read the reviews on amazon and they were all great. All I can remember is the innocence of the film, and just how simply good it was to watch.

I'll continue my search and hopefully I will find it for sale somewhere.

I agree about the ending....a real tearjerker

I love this movie... and I'm glad I own it.

It's really sad to watch now, though..... because Savannah (Bridgette Andersen) died in 1997 of a drug & alcohol overdose.

Geez...that's so sad. I had no idea she had passed away, or that the movie was in and out of print so fast.

I wanna thank you guys for all the info. Again, I am going to hunt this one down...I am bound to run into it somewhere

You know what's another movie I am having a hard time finding out in stores..?? MOMMY DEAREST

The ONLY place that had it was FRY'S Electronics, and the copy they did have was defective(case was crushed). Since then, they have not restocked it. I guess it just wasn't meant to be

For me this movie would fall into the thread started a ways back entitled something like "Movies you love but won't watch again." The movie just tears me apart even thinking about it. That ending is just one of the best ever as far as I am concerned. If it can make me weep like a little girl then that says something.

This movie has one of the saddest endings I can ever remember watching as a kid - almost as sad as the first time I saw John Wayne's character die in the Cowboys.

Didn't the little girl who played Savannah become a porn star before she died?

You might be confusing her with the dead porn star named Savannah.

Ive seen the film several times but it wasn't that sad, not as sad as WHERE THE RED FERN GLOWS, RING OF BRIGHT WATER, CHRISTMAS TREE, etc.

I just bought it on Ebay for $24.95. It better not be a bootleg.

As is usually the case when I buy an out-of-print DVD on ebay, it will probably be announced tomorrow that a remastered widescreen version will be coming out shortly for 9.99.

Not to be a pessimist, but I suspect it will be. Either that, or you were just lucky enough to encounter a seller who was unaware of the value of the disc. (How was the seller's feedback?)

I'd guess that you'll get the Region 0 boot (labeled PFE, I believe). It'll be a miracle if you get the proper Hen's Tooth release. Let us know how it turns out!

That's exactly what I got. Pure crap. It looks absolutely horrible. Do NOT buy the PFE version. I even e-mailed the seller before I bought it, who has sold hundreds of these, and they told me it was the official release. I am now going to try to return it, since it clearly is not.

Hi, I just checked with blockbuster online and they have copies of this movie for rent for those who just want to rent it without paying crazy prices just to watch it.
